I got a Mini and a ACD, with the Mini to be replaced with a Mac Pro rev B(in the mean time i'll either upgrade my Core Duo Mini to a Core 2 Duo, or buy a new one, depending on my cash flow)

Less flippant thoughts..

And here we go on the front page...upgraded mini with merom beats a dual G5 2.5.

Believe it now?

Well, there's not enough information there to seriously say the mini is better than the G5. It's 2 benchmarking tests!
Hell, one that uses Rosetta and hampers the mini, of which the mini lost. More is better.

But anyway.. clearly the G5 is getting long in the tooth. While I'm still having a tough time believing that the entry-level-switcher-box/laptop is giving the "flagship" of 2004 the heave-ho.. every day takes it closer and closer to being 'obsolete'.

I look forward to the new desktop w/x86s.

And here's an example of the MacBook falling short.. (though it doesn't say if it's a UB).

I'm just saying, it's a bit early to be putting the final nail in the G5 coffin.

lol but to be fair the macbook has no graphics card....well comparatively

but I agree the G5 isn't finished yet...however, I believe conroe will eclipse it performance wise as even the current Core Duo chips are very competitive in most benchmarks that I've seen (could be wrong). It maybe not beat the quad obviously as the Core 2 Duo (conroe) can't be configured that way from what I understand:confused:

Absolutely, which is part of the reason I find the MB "faster" than G5 debate to be suspect. Time will prove me wrong I guess.. but for the moment, I'm skeptical. And there's nothing wrong with that. :)
