Apple stores are full of snobs and people who don't get a hoot... I had 5 deal pixels... Mostly red right in the middle of the screen and I had to claw and fight to get them to take it back, 3 trips to the store and phone call to corporate etc... Comp usa will take it back no questions asked for 21 days... Need I say more? Unless you are buying a mac which is customized, not sure why you would, but you can get the same computer at comp usa without any hassle, and still have the regular apple warranty.
Glad to hear that you had a good experience with them.

CompUSAs vary from place to place in their service/response to the customer. Much like Apple stores and just about any other chain store. Luckily it sounds like you dealt with a good store.

Costco still has the best return policy. They give you SIX MONTHS to return a computer, no restocking fees, and they never ask any questions. Too bad they don't sell Macs.

I know, only if Costco sold macs...

I actually try to avoid buying my "toys' (HomeTheater, Mac's) because of their AMAZING Return policy!

Read too many post people taking advantage of it, not right. The most is Flat Panel LCD HDTV's, it's like the never ending "free upgrades."

although they *REALLY* tried to push Apple Care on me. The one guy was like "My sister just bought a Powermac, and the power supply blew 1 day after warrenty and they had to replace the whole machine" Im thinking to my-self "Your a moron" :).
When people try too hard to push an extended warranty on me, and start telling me how many people they know who bought the same product and it was junk, I just say "Ok. If x product proves to be junk, I'll just quit buying that product. And if you know you are selling junk but you keep on selilng it, I'll just shop elsewhere." They usually stop with the horror stories pretty quickly at that point.

I'll never shop Compusa again. The floor manager almost REFUSED to let me buy the machine unless I purchased extended warranty. In his words "you've probably never bought an Apple before, and all Apple buyers always get extended warranty." I explained I buy a new computer about every 9 months and have bought a dozen Apples. After half an hour the idiot finally gave up. I would have left earlier, but I HAD to buy a new machine that night and every other store was closed by then.

I actually went into an Apple store knew exactly what I wanted, but they MADE me listen to all the extra bells and whistles... Extra software, .mac, extended warranty et al. I was there 45 minutes when I knew exactly what I wanted. I wanted to go in and buy it and leave, no shot... So Apple does the same thing as Comp usa...

I know how annoying this can be, but I also know what it's like to be on the other end. I used to work at circuitcity, and our jobs depended on us meeting certain numbers. If we didn't meet certain marks then we'd miss out on promotions, and if we continued to miss our marks then we'd lose our jobs. So when your listening to the annoying salesman at the stores, just remember that if they don't annoy the hell out of you, then they could lose their job. I eventually quit circuitcity after I got sick of their tactics, but now when I have to deal with salesman I endure through their routine and kindly say no.

What is with all of these inflammatory Subject titles? Why cannot you just post an opinion about something without making it seem like Fox News. I happen to like the Apple Store near me (the only one I have ever been in). It is full of people having a good time. However, I am sure that a person could find an employee somewhere that they do not care for. It happens in every business. If you have an issue, the best thing to do is send an email to Apple customer service and explain it in an intelligent reasonable way.

Too often I see people walk into a store and immediately create a hostile relationship. The majority of store employees want to do a good job and not face a confrontation. So, work with that premise in mind. I almost always can create a friendly, cooperative relationship with them. Then they will go out of their way to be helpful.

Case in point: Over a year ago I was headed for Johnson Atoll in the South Pacific. I went into this same Apple Store and bought myself and iPod. However, it was my birthday, and my family surprised me with an identical one. The original was never opened. I returned home several weeks later and returned the unopened one to the store. They showed me the return policy and offered an in-store credit. I told them that normally this would be fine, however I did not have any purchasing plans for several months and would prefer a straight refund. Now, I brought pictures of Johnson Atoll, flight ticket stubs, receipts from many thousands of dollars of past purchases, etc. After a brief conference amongst themselves, they gave me a complete refund.

Although I don't have a choice between an Apple Store or a CompUSA, I love going to CompUSA for all of my needs. I like to be able to test around with my Apple purchase, so that is why I always use CompUSA. Usually when I go into a store like that, I don't get much help because of my age. It was alot different with CompUSA. Even though I have yet to meet the Apple rep, everyone else there has been really nice to me about my purchases.

The first time I wanted to purchase an Apple laptop I chose CompUSA over the Apple website. I've been in there many times before and they helped me all the way. I did make the mistake of telling them this was my first Apple purchase, and that of course brought up the Apple Care fiasco. Although I do know that is their procedure, so I can understand where they are coming from and why they are doing that.

I think even if an Apple store did come to my city, I would still choose CompUSA. They have always been there for me and the manager knows me by name. It is a nice experience shopping at CompUSA for my Apple needs. :)
