Jailbreaks/IOS Hacks
So for some reason, i dont feel the need to jailbreak my iPhone 6... It's weird since i have been waiting for this for 3 months or so, but now it's like whats the point. dont mean to be another "jailbreaking is pointless" thread, but the 3 main things i use in a jailbreak are pandoraskips, themes, and sped up animations. I have reduce motion on, and that seems to help with the animation speed. I got over the new look of ios and dont obsess over making it look like ios 6 anymore... So, are you guys still going to jailbreak, or do you feel the same way as me?

I want administrative rights on any computer I use. nuff said ios/android/windows/osx etc... This should never be to much to ask for. If you find that you don't mind your hands being tied within any os, fine. not I ;)

alright, so i guess i could turn this thread into a thread to persuade me to jailbreak. lol i'm a big fan of ios 8 so ever since it came out my jailbroken iPhone 5 has sat in a drawer with a dead battery.

Still going to. If I needed absolutely NO other reasons (and I have plenty of them to choose from), I'd JB for:

biteSMS (8's idea of quick reply is just one notch above useless, and where is quick compose?! Why did Apple finally introduce a desired feature in such a half assed fashion?)
iBlacklist (see above, because "blocking" in iOS is again almost useless by comparison)
AdBlocker (or custom hosts file, or whatever you choose to use to block ads)

The list is a lot longer than that, but those three are the ones that I simply cannot stand being without when I'm forced to use a stock device. This level of functionality should have been added to iOS years ago.

I mainly want to get rid of all the excessive white and neon colors in iOS 8. A proper mx tube would be nice too. And all the little things you don't think you need until you find out about them.

I feel the same pretty much just sitting here debating. Pretty much all I did with iOS 7 was install Auki, openssh for some custom keyboard tics and lock and unlock sounds and springtomize. I'd like to use the zoomed future in iOS 8 but shrink them huge icons lol!

Also used ColorBadges, Statustime+ and ccsettings...

Until Apple integrate the functionality of CCControls, springtomize, winterboard, BiteSms and ifile I'll always jailbreak.

Until they let me decide where I can out my apps, let me remove app and folder names and change the size of icons. Let me have an invisible dock (I really really hate the dock), let me decide what controls to have in the control centre. Let me theme my phone so I don't have to look at the ridiculous iOS 7/8 icons. Let me out the date next to the time in the status bar. Remove the ridiculous signal dots and put the signal bars back. Give the option to close all background apps at once. Change the system font. Have XBMC and moviebox in the App Store. And a lot more I can't remember. When Apple integrate all that into stock iOS. Then I'll stop jail breaking. Until then. I'll always wait for the jailbreak release before buying a new iPhone.

I only use my iPad to watch TV etc. No jailbreak means no XBMC or moviebox which means for my personal needs, the iPad is useless without a jailbreak.

Until Apple allows f.lux on the App Store or incorporates something similar in the OS, I'll always jailbreak for this one tweak.

f.lux, springtomize, bytafont (I can't stand Helvetica), iFile, and theming. I'm with lyceumHQ - it's my device, I want to have some control over it.

I am mostly ok with iOS 8.1 on my iPhone 6. Most of what I used to JB for is now included like widgets (though they are hidden in the pull down, but at least they finally allowed it on the lock screen) so I can see weather and appointments on my lock screen now easily. Used to JB for LockInfo.

I still would REALLY like three things:

1. Be able to rename apps.. (My Pet Peeve are devs who use app names that are too long and are truncated with... at the end)

2. Be able to resize icons smaller

3. Be able to hide apps... (honestly this one should have been included a very long time ago) How long does Apple really want to force people to have to hide the stocks app on page three of a folder LOL??? At least folders can have more than one page now meaning you can hide the stupid apps further away but still... they are not ever really hidden... I want them gone from sight! If a JB app can do it, then Apple could have easily implemented something similar!

That's it... If I had the option to use themes, I'd use them... but I have kind of gotten used to the colours now... my preference is for plain white icons so I can focus on my wallpaper. But it's not a deal breaker anymore with most apps updating their icons to clean more modern looking ones.

You can't even run apps in the background with a jailed iPhone. Why in the world would you accept that?

You couldn't pay me to use an iPhone if it were impossible to jailbreak.

I still haven't fully decided yet. I will probability end up jailbreaking because I like themes too much, but every year many of the reasons I jailbreak get rolled into ios. I don't even miss swipeselection as much any more with SwiftKey because I make fewer errors.

I definitely will not be jailbreaking until Pangu works out all the bugs and Cydia installs with it. I need it to be like most past jailbreaks where it is stable and doesn't limit stock functionality at all.

The opportunity, via jailbreak, to stem the tide of multi-colored unicorn puke flowing unchecked from the FisherPrice and PlaySkool inspired minds at Apple is more than enough reason.

The lack of adblocker is killing me. All these sites that force open AppStore makes me wana punch the creator in the face.

Same here. For me jailbreak is not necessary nowadays. Although if there is jailbreak available, I would definitely jailbreak for some tweaks that are really helpful, but I can life without.

the default animations are driving me INSANE!!! its so slow i feel like i am using an iPhone from 4 years ago and those huge app icons on the springboard make me feel like i am using one of those phones for people with bad eye sight (i am too used to smaller icons using springtomize i guess) and AD BLOCKER. I also miss slide selection. the default way of moving back to change a letter is annoying

oh another thing i miss are gestures to slide up from left to get to the home screen and slide up on the right to open multi tasking. i hate clicking the home button all the time. very inconvenient

What you want is not equal to what's best for a regular sap of a user. You don't want people like my grandfather, to easily acquire administrative rights. Because he's going to break the device.

Therefore, it's definitely something that IS too much to ask for from apple.

Not at all, there are very easy ways to safeguard enable/disable these rights to further protect users from themselves. Even if only an additional layer of confirmation acknowledging the risks. How is it any different within a windows box or osx or Linux? If you break it, you learn to fix it via a fresh install or take it to someone that will do it for you.
