So I wanted to buy the iPad Air 3, but that and the iPad Pro 10.5 has white spot problems that appear on the screen,
I want to buy the iPad Pro 11 inch, but don’t know if that has the same problem as them^? So I’m kinda afraid to spend 1k, and eventually get a white spot on the screen.
has anyone had this problem with the iPad Pro 11 inch? Or does anyone know if they solved this issue when they released the 11 inch and 12.9 ?

i have enough to buy the iPad Pro, but I don’t know if I should.
mainly because of that reason^ and because I only want to use my iPad for YouTube, and tv shows.
I could buy the 7th 10.2 but eventually it will be outdated and the display is good but not that good right?

so what do you think I should do? I can buy either one, just don’t know which one to pick.

The Air will be more than ample for YouTube (though the Pro does have nicer sounding quad speakers). I wouldn't worry too much about the white spot thing, assuming you buy direct from Apple you have 14 days to return it if there's anything wrong, plus a year's guarantee. The 7th gen will also be a nice device for watching video, the main screen difference is there's a small air gap between the display itself and the screen cover glass so it looks a bit set back. If you can (yes I realise it's easier said than done at the moment!) go have a look in person as it's likely negligible for just watching videos, more relevant if you're using the pencil a lot. The Air's screen does also show more colours, but I doubt you'd really notice this watching YouTube and browsing about?

I have had the air since last summer and love it, I have had no issues with it, no white spot issues.

For your usage, an Air or Ipad 10.2 will be fine, the pro would be a waste of money

i think I’m gonna go with the 11 ipad pro, I wont have to upgrade for awhile, and the 10.5 screens are the cause of the white spots, I haven’t seen any reports of the 11 iPad Pro having white spots so I should be good

didn’t buy just yet.

I would buy the 128gb for both iPad Pro or 7th gen.
I don’t want the air because I just don’t wanna deal with that white spot problem,

I have a 6th gen now but after I got my screen fixed there’s stuff under the screen, I’m pretty sure it’s dead pixels idk tho. So I heard the 6th gen and 7th gen are the same when it comes to display. So if the pro makes my “ Netflix or YT “ experience better because of the iPad Pro display, I will most likely buy that, and also because the support will last for years compared to 7th gen

By all means get the entry level iPad if it’s just for consumption and test it during the return period. I bet it will be great for your purposes. The Pro is nice but is it that much better for consumption? I don’t think so.

yeah I really don’t know what to do lol. I really really wanted to buy the iPad Air 3 and I was gonna then of course I saw stuff about 10.5s having white spots

I wouldn’t get caught up on the white spot thing.... most likely it will not be an issue and if it is you can always get it taken care of.

There is no reason not to buy the air 3, it will last a while, you can use the 1st gen pencil and Smart Keyboard with it, you seem to be focusing on an issue, which isnt an issue, I havent heard of any white spot issues recently, Apple may have solved the issues.

The Air or the 10.2 version will easily manage with what you want to do, the iPad Pro is overkill and a waste of money.

That’s what I wanted to do, just don’t know if I’ll end up doing that. But alot of people have Gotten the white spots on the pro 10.5 and air 3. That’s why I’m hesitating on buying it because I don’t want to deal with that problem. And I saw a couple people make a post about it recently on the air 3 on here and reddit.

As I said your making a problem where there isn't one.

The Air is a great device, remember the iPad Pro's have a lot of issues such as bending, any device could go wrong at any time. They are made in such large quantities that there are bound to be occasional issues.

I rather have a bending problem then a screen problem? The white spots happened first on the 10.5 pro first and that was really bad every single iPad Pro had that then what a year later or something they come out with the air 3 and that has the same problem? How can you say it isn’t a problem? It is? You are the only person besides the guy above who told me they haven’t gotten it? Everyone else on reddit I asked has gotten it. Look at the forums yourself on here and on reddit? And some people even got it more then once when they returned to Apple and got a replacement. I can either spend less money but risk getting the white spots, or spend more money and get the pro and have a small chance it will “ bend”.

Ok, well you seem to have made your mind up, seems pointless asking a question if you're going to disagree with everybody who thinks something different.

I just don't see the white spot as an issue, I have only seen a few people experience, you are defo making mountains out of a mole hill.

Of course. Mine is bent and with a big bright spot.

No. I’m out of warranty, but i tried when it was and they said that the functionalty of the ipad is not affected.... that’s it. I’m upset because i’ve wanted to change my battery but i can’t because of this bent issue.

Man this sucks! When did you try? I am puzzled that they refused to repair it when it was in warranty. It does not matter if the functionality is affected or not. If it is in warranty and it was their fault that is bent they should have repaired it.

How did it got bend?

I just got a refurbished Air 3 and it has a pristine screen and is the usual high quality product from Apple's refurbished program. Not to mention I saved enough that it was barely more than the regular 7th generation. Might be worth a shot if you are willing to take a chance on not getting the white spot. Or get AppleCare + to make sure if it comes up you are covered. An Air and AppleCare are still a lot cheaper than a pro.

Just keep in mind not every bent iPad is a warranty case. Sometimes it’s not the workmanship in question but the way a user treats the device. The notable exception would be 2018 iPad Pro cellular models that seem a bit softer than other iPads. But even the reports of these bending have died out almost entirely.

You are right :). This is why once my first reaction was like down I asked the question how it was bent because indeed this is an important piece of information.

I think people sometimes confuse AppleCare with regular warranty. As far as I know under Apple Care they can repair even an iPad that was bent out of the user's fault. Under regular warranty this would not be covered.

You are also right that it depends on the model. As far as I know there was no manufacturing issue with the minis that would cause bending. Only for the newer generations iPads (and like you said cellular) we have sort of hints about this.

Not necessarily. My white spots appeared a couple of weeks out of 1 year warranty on my 2018 pro so Apple wouldn’t help and I wasn’t paying another £500 to replace screen in a device I paid over a grand for just to have it working effectively for a year.

I have purchased two Air 3s for two of my grandchildren. Neither have had an issue with the white spots, and we've had one for almost a year, and one for 4 months with a lot of use.
