Hey guys, don't play with Emergency SOS on your iPhone, it can bug out and will not let you cancel the timer, resulting in a 911 call

So I was playing around with Emergency SOS (like an idiot (I like listening to the countdown timer)) and my iPhone bugged out and wouldn't let me cancel the call, and I tried to shut the phone off and they called back, and I told them I was alright, and then the cops came

I know this sounds really funny, but calling 911 isn't fun or funny

I don't really give a ****, but I never really expected for it to bug out
Does Beta software ring any bells?

Yeah, but if you're going to roll out a feature like this, make sure it works
This isn't the camera crashing when I'm taking a picture, this is my phone calling 911
But beta is to test and Apple or any compony can't make a beta that doesn't have some major unknown bugs. If they could do that then they would not need to release a beta.

lol I tested it too but it allowed me to cancel the call. It took half a second to do when it should be instant when you touch the red button to end the call.

I did it 2 times, the first time it allowed me to cancel, and we both know what happened the 2nd go around

Why would you play with a feature like this anyway? This should only by used in emergencies.

EDIT: Good news. For those who like to "play" with this feature, you can no longer do it in beta 3 as they've removed it while they fix the issue.

Because it's new, it's not like it's supposed to go off
I know I shouldn't be playing with it, but it makes a cool sound

Because it's supposed to let you cancel it. Because I'd want to get to that point to see how it works BEFORE I'm in a real emergency and in a panic.

The feature should be tested - how else are we suppose to work out the bugs?
This feature should be tested my apple in there own building with their own employees, not the general public. Perhaps work out something with the local police to either not respond or another situation to prevent unnecessary responses by the police.

True. Just route the call to Tim's personal phone instead-- I'm sure for an Apple employee that'd cause the same, if not higher, level of panic.

Kind of glad they got rid of this in the latest beta... Apparently I have a habit of rapidly clicking the sleep/wake button without realising. Never noticed until now. Haha.

or have it call a test number
This is Apple so they can code iOS versions to whatever they want
