Regardless of money lost, it is wasteful consumerism. Apple computers have always have had very good useful lifespans (2-3x Pc counterparts if in original configuration). This is late stage capitalism social decay to toss one for new tech so quickly. Well aware of Apple recycling, but that doesn’t erase the nasty cycle.

But the m1 iMac experience is very very good. Especially in custom color. But wait it out at least 1-2 more product cycles. The experience is only going to get better.

My 27" 5K iMac just died, my first thought was a mini with a 27" display. After way too much reading of other peoples issues trying to get different displays to work with their m1 Mini. I think I am going for the 24" iMac. I love apple displays and the color gamunt & high pixel count in more important that screen size for me.

I downsized from 27" 5K myself and don't regret it. I like the more compact size for my desk and what I do with it.

I am ordering a 24in iMac in a day or so. I've seen one on display and it looks good. I don't thinkI'll miss the 27 inch screen and I can make use of the desk space. I think I was too ambitious when I bought the Mid 2011 machine. I even boosted it to 32 gig just because I could! Just deciding what size drive to order,

Get the 16Gb RAM and as much SSD space as you need, so much better to have it internally unless you have a good NAS. I got 2Tb to fit my photos and music, its about half full so 1Tb was out of the question for me.

I have a 27" (2014) iMac and am considering upgrading to the 24" new iMac Model.
I use an electronic medical record and do zoom meetings and such, and I like to game but not the horrifically high-end games necessarily (lots of Starcraft, classic games and so on). Plus it's the repository for my business work and photos and videos and so on.

I'm seeing that if we get a next-gen iMac with a 27" screen (or larger), it's going to be mega expensive and probably higher end than I really need. I mean, i love me a high end Mac :) but realistically.

So looks like buying one of the newly releasing 24" is going to be major hardware upgrade for me, yeah
Did you buy the 24" iMac? I also have a 2014 27" iMac and really like the new 24" iMacs. Just curious if you did buy the 24" and if yes, how you like it.
