I just downgraded from 9.0 to 8.4.1 and it's been buttery smooth.
The file you are trying to unzip is the IPSW file itself, unless you downloaded it from an untrustworthy site.
You know, I love Apple devices but I get tired of all the lag issues at the start of every release. I just wish for once I could install an OS version upgrade (not point release) without having to wait months for the lagginess to be resolved (if it ever is). I should have waited, I iPad Air 2 now feels like an iPad 3 on depressants. Slower than slow...
Funny feeling really... you even start getting used to the lag, then once you go back it's awesome. After trying iOS 9 for past couple weeks and iOS 9.1 beta 2 the past day, I finally gave in a rolled back to 8.4.1 on my iphone 6. It feels like a new phone again.

I didn't have to use DFU mode. Just connected phone, shift-clicked Restore (on Windows), and select IPSW.
Hi, not working even without DFU. i tried with and without DFU, both restore and update button, with option key pressed. i select the ispw and it says not compatible. downloading them again, but im sure they were legit, i got them from the apple website.
Edit> ill change computer, redownload and let u know.

So i managed to downgrade. but for some reason iTunes did NOT keep my iphone 8.4.1 backup, and overwrote it with my fresh iOS 9 one. So i could either go back and have a backup of 4 months ago, or stick to iOS 9. jeez.
Well yeah, it's an iPhone 6. Any device is much smoother with its original OS. My touch 5G still is on iOS 6 and I would never consider updating. Same with my iPad 4. iPhone 6+ is with 8.4.
Performance and having a jailbreak always beats having the latest and greatest.
I would usually agree on that but Apple mentioned performance improvements with iOS 9 at the keynote.
I would downgrade. I wish I'd stayed with 8.4.1.
So why don't you go back to 8.4.1 while you still can? Several posts from you indicate you wish you were on 8.4.1. No reason to stay on 9 if you dislike it so much and have the option to roll back.I envy you Act3. I was talking to my financial advisor's office manager just now and she agreed with me about the crappy battery life and like me wishing she'd stayed with 8.4.1.
I like how we're all seeking refuge from iOS 9. I will probably go back to iOS 9 after they clean it up. Didn't expect the release to act like a beta out of the gate, but then again iOS 8 did as well.
No you don'tHi, do I lose warranty with a downgrade to 8.4.1? thx
