Aww. Too bad I didn't know about this last week, when the game was 50% off.

I just bought it last week, and was just thinking about buying the PC version with the Awakening pre-order deal right before I found that thread. It looks like this was just recently discovered.

Well, not only does the PC version run with my Mac key, it runs faster, at higher quality settings (high details, no AA). I just ordered Awakening, now I just need to find a way to transfer save progress....

EDIT: Copying the Characters folder from one version to the other did the trick. Awesome!

I picked up Awakening today. I can't wait to get going on it, but first I need to finish ME2! Bleh! :)

Time to continue my adventure, since my char isn't dead. :D

I had to start fresh (new PC, didn't bother transferring old saves).

If you have a PC version, head to 'Alienware Arena' and get a nifty little Dragon Age DLC trinket for free:)

Cool, for once I'd like to have an Alienware, but just to get the trinket though. :eek: :)

And I'm always glad to hear someone bought a new PC. As much as I'm a Mac guy, I never want to live in a time where I won't be able to play games on my PC, because people finally abandoned it. Long live PC gaming. :cool:

I am like 12 hours (95% done) into Awakening and gotta say WHAT A LET DOWN!

The quality of the game was guaranteed by the depth of the initial characters and now BioWare decided to milk the money as long as the game is hot while disregarding these fine touches the original had. The sense of fighting for a cause “together” is gone. Back is another generic “kill them all” RPG with one single highlight (namely killing the Fade dragon) that doesn’t even connect properly with the main story.

The only good thing about it are the visible performance improvements, tho.

So pitiful to be always reminded, again&again that all that counts in today’s world is money - 40 bucks for half-baked, rushed and illogical expansion.

Well, maybe you will enjoy it, Jack… but if you have high expectations then lower them considerably and you will have plenty of fun. :D To me it’s certainly not a 9 out of 10 anymore but the proper game itself with its original plot still is.

Edit: The only nice surprise I got is at the VERY end when the final epilogue credits flew by, me being a huge fan of Zevran:

Some claimed the commander went to antiva chasing after the assasin zevran. One rumour suggested the pair engaged in a terrible showdown in he antivan capital, and others say they took over the crows. Perhaps they adventure together still.

Now that the keys are cross-platform compatible, I'd really like to get a copy of the Mac version to see if it offers acceptable performance. I got the PC Collector's Edition on release, and I love playing with everything maxed-out, but I'd love not having to reboot even more. I've only finished one play-through because I just can't be bothered to reboot to Windows very often. It would be nice if EA or the distributors would allow us to download the Mac version if we have the PC version registered. I've yet to find a working download of the Mac version without buying the game again.

As for Awakening, after reading the reviews, I'll be holding off purchasing for a few months and hope for a Mac version.

@mabaker,

I'm just going to imagine I gave Microcenter a $30 tip and only paid $10 for the game, this way I won't be as let down. :)

@theLimit,

Same here, I'd like the option to download a Mac version, since my PC doesn't travel with me and Bootcamp doesn't support XP 64 and I'm not too keen about buying a new license of Windows at the moment.
