My daughter dropped a penny sized drop of hand sanitizer on the bottom right of my iPad and I was wondering it will effect the touchscreen or oleophobic coating or something?

I've done this a few times with my iPhone 3GS screen with ZERO effect. The iPad screen appears to be of identical construction so I'm saying it'll be completely unaffected.

I don't know, in the stress tests the iPhone was alot more resistant to liquid than the iPad was

Did you notice anything unusual on the screen afterwards?
How old is your daughter? Just curious.

Assuming the screen is close to that of the iPhone...

I have had all the way from mud to pizza sauce to crawfish seasoning on my iPhone screen and nothing has happened.

It's a new toy. You'll realize the durability of it and that it is a tool and a machine in a few weeks/months.

The spot feels little different but it probably nothing. She is 8.

Most hand sanitizers are primarily composed of alcohols, so it's possible that a solvent like that might have removed a little of the oleophobic coating. I would imagine that Apple recommends not using a solvent-based cleaner on those screens.

How much of the "feeling different" do you think is just the placebo effect? I know I sometimes think different parts of my electronics feel strange after something like this happens even though it's probably exactly how it was before.

On a similar topic, does anyone here use iKlear? I could swear that after using it, it's even more prone to fingerprints....then again, I probably am wrong.

I asked my wife and son to feel it and they told me it feels the same. It must be the placebo effect happening... Embarrassing...

Actually I think I can fix it. Mail it to me and I'll see what I can do. If I can't save it, I'll dispose of it for you for free.

Hah, try pea soup....

I was eating grandmas pea soup yesterday with the ipad propped up in back of the bowl using the apple case. The ipad tipped forward onto the back lip of the bowl and the soup splashed all over it and the case. Quick wipe down with paper towel damp with water, rinsed the rubbery apple case under the faucet, works fine, no problems or marks. Whew. I was pissed, it's some pretty damn good soup! Everyone else in my family thought it was pretty funny...

if i use a alcohol wipe to clean my screen am I making it more prone to fingerprints?
