PC World/DSG are just brutal. The highlights of my shopping experiences there include:
- A "brand new" computer that contained someone else's private data
- A tv that needed replaced (faulty) which I know that they just took out back and gave back to me, pretending that it was a different one
- Last two visits in more recent times were for "reserve and collect" items -and both times the item wasn't available! On the first occasion they tried to sell me a similar product without even telling me (they shoved it in the bag without showing it to me), luckily I knew that something was up so I checked the contents when I got outside. When I asked for the store manager (yes, the manager!) he LIED and deliberately gave me a "geek squad" hotline number instead of the number of customer service/complaints. On the second occasion they made me wait for FORTY minutes whislt they tried to find my reservation. I finally decided that they have burned me once too often, so now I refuse to shop there.

To get back on topic -I wouldn't buy a mouse mat from that shower.

Its only going to be in stores that have a Apple member of staff in, such as PCW J9 and Bristol Cribbs. Normal PCW stores wont be stocking it.

Dear God !! PCW have stocked apple products for a long time but I would be very surprised if they obtain the Ipad on launch day....The DSG group on a whole are a bunch of robbin bass'as

My friend took his pc into pc world to get it fixed, they told him that his motherboard had burned out and burnt out the ram too. They quoted him some extortionate amount to 'fix' his pc so he declined. I took a look at it (burnt out the ram too, ha so obviously bs) he had a duff power supply!

john lewis are great!!!!!

miles and miles above dsgi!!!!!

i wont use pc world out of (insert correct word here) because of the way the employees speak to my mrs...

currys are also a joke, i bought a tv, took it home, plugged it in and it literally made an explosion noise internally took it straight back and the manager was like " your house voltage is too high"

i then enlightened him to the fact i am indeed a fully qualified electrician and he just started rambling that he was too etc etc, but this once hell swap it..... man i laughed in his face for that!!!

as said above, apple or john lewis for the win!!!!! :apple::apple::apple:

I have no issues with buying from DSGi, yes, their staff know nothing, but its an Apple product. It will be the same price as from Apple, and if anything goes wrong i can walk into the Apple store with it instead of going back to Curry/PCworld/whatever.

Also, having bought a Dell laptop from them a few months ago. The staff member wanted to sell me their stupid warranty, obviously he gets comission, but he explained they do a "2 weeks free" option where you can cancel it before making any payments in your first two weeks. He still gets his comission and he can knock me £20 off the laptop, and a further £10 of a USB HDD i was buying at the time.

Laptop was already a "Store Special" so cheaper than any online retailer (yes, i did my research beforehand).

I will be buying my iPad from Apple, but if for some reason i cant, i'll have no hangup about using a DSG store, i might even save some money :D

I read somewhere that John Lewis won't be getting them until June, and knowing how these things go it'll be late June ie the 30th!

Won't that be July if DSG does have a 60 day exclusive?

Hope not as my preferred retailer is John Lewis (I will wait, I wouldn't want to give DSG any of my money).

I know I'm going to be a bit unpopular in this thread but my local PC world (East Kilbride) is great. I've had good customer service with them, my reserves are always ready when I get there, even a hour after I've ordered them on the internet and I've not had a single issue with refunds etc...

And no. I don't work for them.

Confirmed...Husband went into Dixons yesterday and was told they'd be selling the iPad from launch day. I see discounted tablet computing in my future :)

+1

JL threw in an extra years cover on my 17" mbp for the same price at the Apple store.

2 Year warranty is standard on all computers at John Lewis. Probably will be one year on the iPad though.

Yeah right exclusive my backside

Possibly exclusive, excluding Apple stores. So semi-exclusive.

Though knowing Apple's way of short supplying retailers once the initial allocation has gone from PCShed/Currys they probably wont get much stock during this exclusive period.
