Just got it all together. It works!

ACD #1 plugged into Sapphire pulse RX 580 8GB DVI port

ACD #2 plugged into genuine Apple Dual link DVI to Mini DisplayPort adapter. That adapter is plugged into a Cable Matters Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort adapter. That’s plugged into DisplayPort #1 on the RX 580.

They don’t make this easy!

The one DVI port works for me.

This is how you get a second display to work properly through a Display Port. Use an OEM Apple DVI to mini DVI adapter. Then use a mini DVI port female to Display Port. One you make the connection go into Display Preferences and Adjust the resolution, if it's not at the highest setting.

...or if you don't already own the card but have to make a purchase decision and do not need the last bit of RX 580 performance for all cost, just get the ASUS RX 570 ROG Strix OC 8GB, which is barely 10% slower than the 580 with all the other goodies of a (relatively) modern AMD GPU, but comes with two Dual-Link DVI ports and as this can drive two 30" Cinema HD displays at full resolution out of the box.

It is, along with some breeds of the GeForce GTX 1070, the most recent and powerful graphics card still equipped with two of these "obsolete" connectors beeing able to drive two ACD 30"s without any expensive and ugly adaptor hassles.
