Dual Monitors on a mini

Quick question for those of you running dual setups. I've heard that when running dual setups on all Apple computers if you try to full screen watch a movie on 1 the other screen goes black and there isn't any way around this? True or not true?

Partially true.
If you run full screen, then the other monitor goes dark.

However, there is a way round it. Just run the movie or other app in a window, and then you can use/see the other monitor. OK, you lose a tiny bi of width to the menu bar, but that's it.

Ok, cuz I tried to look into doing a dual setup with my MBP everytime I tried to go full screen with a movie in 1 the other screen went black. I will have to revisit it with your work around. Thanks for the tip!

True when running full-screen video from iTunes. Some web apps (e.g. YouTube, Amazon instant video) will full-screen on one monitor while still letting you use the other normally.

For iTunes you can use the workaround mentioned; don't go full-screen and simply enlarge the video window to "almost" fill one screen.

What about like VLC? I never use iTunes for watching movies anyways, so that wouldn't be a big deal.

I don't have VLC but found this old thread on the subject, can't speak to whether the tips given are still valid.
