all you people that just got accepted... when did you apply?

I applied the very minute that Apple's servers recovered after the SDK announcement in early March. Because I'm in the UK, the first email I received was to tell me that they were only accepting US applications at the time but that they'd get round to the rest of the world soon.

The invitation arrived in my inbox about 10 days ago and, after following the link, I was able to buy the $100 iPhone developer subscription from the Apple store.

I have a friend who also applied at the same time, and he hasn't received his invitation yet so the process seems to be quite arbitrary. He's also been an ADC member for as long as me, probably longer, so that isn't a factor.

oh man its a pain to setup the whole thing.. I am in canada so using the phone with different sim.. now when I loaded the new Beta 2.0 firmware i get pink screen and it doesn't allow me to activate the device.. i can't even pwn this build..

on top of that.. the whole setup of provisioning, adding devices, downloading certificates, it seems a lot of pain to develop app

any tips from your own experiences?

Try putting your iPhone in DFU mode and restoring to 1.1.4 with iTunes. Check this forum for similar situations like yours. Also, if you don't want to use your 2.0 firmware, I'd love to use it instead ;)

I hope you got there in the end. I agree that it's difficult to follow the instructions on the developer's portal site, but really you just need to enter your device ID, install the firmware (formatting your iPhone in the process) and create and install a certificate. The provisioning is very simple - it just associates your iPhone with your certificate.

It's a shame you won't be able to use your Sim, but at the same time it's pretty awesome to be able to run your own code at last.

I applied about 2 days before i was accepted! I surprised the hell out of me that i got the email so quick, i thought i'd have to wait until xmas! If others have still not got in, i can only assume it's just a bit of a lottery

It's a complicated business getting it all up and running, but it's an absolute joy to have my code running on my phone and showing my mates :D

How long ago did you apply? And how long did you have an iPhone Developer or ADC account before it?
