Can you actually see dust under the lens cover? I'm looking at your photo on a 27-inch monitor. I see some sort of minor anomaly in the upper left, but that doesn't look like dust. Usually dust shows up as a darker area, and that spot looks a little lighter. Frankly, I wouldn't have noticed it if I didn't search for something. It looks pretty minor and shouldn't be apparent in typical photos.

Selected 'Yes, I see something wrong' to bother your OCD. ;)

In all seriousness what are we supposed to be looking for in the pic? Are we supposed to notice a speck of dust on it or something?

YES!!! Ugh. There’s several pieces under the sapphire cover of the camera.

Can you please tell me what you’re seeing in the upper left?

That seems to be an issue. Someone else saw something too.

I’m not sure that’s why I’m asking, looking for anamolies in the photo.

Dang I think I see it too! I did take multiple shots and don't seem to find it in the others. But I do see what you're talking about in this one. Looks like a squiggly piece of dust :(

I'm conflicted at this point. I might just keep it. If I change it out and face other problems then what would be the point. Disappointed, but what to do
Personally that would bother me having dust under the camera lense so I’d return it and risk it. The dust may not be a big issue now but you don’t want it to be a bigger annoyance potentially down the line.

This too is my fear. I wish Apple could just resolve this so it never happens again.

That’s where I’m at right now.

Consensus overall seems like the particles aren’t harming my pics noticeably in general.

Although could become a problem in the future.

But at the same time, my phone is great. No issues except this.

I predict that you will not be able to resist and it will drive you nuts and return it again.

I see absolutely nothing and I'm looking at it on a 27 iMac...
I am also on a 5k 27" iMac and don't see a thing. I have looked several times.

Edited to add: OP, given your posting history and habits, I believe you have been reading too many threads and have become paranoid for your phone. I think you are trying to convince yourself there is a problem.

Thank you SO much for checking it out for me.

Yes I think I'm a bit paranoid about these things. Too much forum reading, too little enjoying the phone and all that it can do.

I would have NEVER EVER seen the dust if I didn't read about it online, and then check my own phone.

Honestly, pictures have been fine. But when I saw the dust then I had to get it switched.

Then the new one had dust, but before running off to the store to get it fixed again I thought I'd get advice here first.

Sometimes, it is good to take a step back and reassess. I appreciate your attitude to my reply.

Enjoy your phone. You paid a lot for it. If something should arise later on, Apple will take care of you.

Cut back on the forum reading until you can learn to distance yourself when need be, instead of projecting yourself into the OP.

Y'all, I just exchanged my iPhone for a new (white box) iPhone because there was dust under the camera lens.

Now guess what? This one has it too.

I have attached a photo and was wondering if anyone can see the dust and if it is affecting picture quality.

Still not seeing anything wrong. If you are so bothered by it get it replaced again.

Taking an image of the sky will show more about debris on the sensor and not the lens and only if you could stop it way down.

Like I said the dust would be so far out of focus that unless it was large and covered half the lens it will be hard to spot.

At most it would slightly decrease contrast.

WHO was the one that voted they could see something? LOL!
Absolutely agree with this statement. This guy knows what he’s talking about, at least about photograph ;)

That’s not possible. When you mass produce an item like an iPhone in factory conditions, it will gather dust underNeath the camera lens cover. As already mentioned, you can take your phone to the store, they can disassemble and clean behind the camera lens cover for you. You Don’t need a replacement iPhone every time.
