It's always something. I haven't gotten a perfect screen on an Apple device in a long time. Most common issue lately? Dust under the glass. There really is no good advice - you can return it and buy another, but of course there is a chance the next one is worse. I used to purchase 2 Apple devices at a time to improve my odds and just return the one that inevitably had issues, but even doing that has not worked lately. Instead, I've resorted to posting a thread in Marketplace for an iPad without screen issues - and even that's been up for a while with no real bites. Sadly, it may be a "pick your poison" scenario from here on out with Apple.

Got the Surface Pro. Outside of it running Windows, there are no issues whatsoever. I may have bought my last Apple product, and I'm talking with my design team about switching to PCs. (I'm an art director for a team of 24 designers and developers).

Well that is a big issue imo but your mileage may vary...

Now that Adobe Creative Cloud isn't platform specific, it's never been easier to switch between the two. The only software installed on our work computers is Adobe and Office.

Yeah I know that argument. Doesn't fix the torture that is using Windows. i would never ever return for my own systems to Windows. I annoys me way to much.

That is wild you get a perfect Surface Pro on the first go. I can't imagine leaving Apple, but if I went through what you did and then the first Surface Pro 100 percent met your expectations, I can see why you feel that way absolutely.

I have been a huge Apple supporter for 15-20 years. Brand loyalty isn't as important to me as it used to be, and a lot of the younger designers (fresh out of college) that I work with have complained about having to use MacBooks, because apparently Apple's not cool anymore. How times have changed!

So, with Apple's QC being as bad as it has been for me for a while, I'm actually kind of excited about moving to Windows. Not so much for the operating system, but for the hardware.

I am close to being in your position but purely because of steam.
I just don't find the iPad App Store that appealing to me anymore and I'd rather build a games collection on a Windows laptop with steam rather than the iPad offerings.
It annoys me how much Apple obviously don't care about gaming.

Yeah, I've seen a good enough sample size of iPads that had a variety of issues... that I'm just tired. (uneven tints, dust under the screen, a screen that made a clicking noise at the slightest touch, and even one that had a side of the screen go entirely dark after a few days of using it). I'm sure there are good ones out there. It's always my luck with Apple products. My wife gets a perfect iPad Mini or iPhone (which I inspect as thoroughly as I do my own devices) - and when I get the same thing I get dust, dead pixels, uneven backlighting or other problems. It's like I have an Apple curse.

Haha I feel you man, your stories sound almost identical to mine. I've been trough a few iPad Pro's now and now I finally have a screen that's near perfect but it has the clicking issue :,D it's not that pronounced so I'm trying to live with it. I do agree however that it seems that a lot of apple products have uneven screens or something. I've been through several mini's air 2's, a lot of iPhones and now several pro's, 95% of the returns being due to the screen one way or another. The problem is just that I love apple products too much and I wouldn't want a Surface or something anyway (and even if I would that one seems to have quite some screen problems too).

I would exchange if there was dust certainly, especially if it were in the middle of the display. Some flaws I'd excuse, but others that directly inhibits the proper function of the device not so much.

I'm going to get another replacement and if it's got the same uneven screen I'm giving up on Apple for good..Microsoft are soon going to release the surface pro 5 and it will have a superb 13.3 inch display ..I have been using my surface book which uses a Panasonic panel and is perfect and I mean perfect..I love the apple pencil and iPad pro but hate the quality control.microsoft will get my money and I love there screens..there quality control as far as screens is perfect...I feel sorry for people who don't know about this problem but once you know you realise how bad these screens are .i may get lucky and get a uniform screen but I'm not getting my hopes up

Hi,
i was reading your comments about apple screens and the story you had with apple care and then you tried to baught a surface ....
i think you are not familiar with phrase : " take it easy " !!!
i have the same problem with my ipad pro now in 2018 and there is a dust under screen.
It is hard for me to buy new product or replace it because there is no apple care here in iran and if i want to try replaceing it on my own it would be very difficult since buying an apple idevice is so hard due to the high price.
but even if there was apple care or the price was low i would have never done that , Take it easy man , just try to use it and while using with concentration on your job you won't notice anything.
