Excuse me if I gave you the impression that I had some inkling that those ATI video cards are destined for OSX because of some EFI related chip.

there's no problem, don't worry, maybe i understood wrongly. happy mac proing. :apple:

The PowerColor AX4890 1GBD5-UH (now overclocked to 1000/1100) works great in BootCamp and OSX 10.5.7. The PowerColor AX4890 1GBD5-PPH (now overclocked to 1000/1100) works great in BootCamp, but I'm getting nothing but a black screeen in OSX 10.5.7. So back to the lab.

how is it possible that the PowerColor AX4890 1GBD5-PPH doesn't work well in OSX ? i remember you wrote in this post that the card is destined of OS X.
unfortunately i am not of help here, but i do wish you to sort it out as soon as possible.

CPU B fan not working

Hi, I upgraded processors on my mac pro early 2009 but now cpu fan B is not working anymore.

I clipped the heatsink connector to be able to place the 2 mm higher processors.

And I think by mistake I placed the heatsink connector in the wrong way which I noticed later :(

I turned it around and placed it back in the right way. But the fan doesn't work anymore.

CPU fan A is going crazy to cool now.

Could it be that I short circuit FAN B?

What could I do to solve this?

Many thanks in advance, feel really bad about this:(

Thanks, jasper

Yes, it's very likely that the sensor connected to the processor heatsink fan was blown as well. Your only option is to replace the whole processor heatsink with this one. If you live outside the US, make sure you find a supplier that can order the right part for you since I doubt that Apple would sell it to you directly.

Hi, many thanks for your re

Hi, many thanks for your reply.

I will order a complete new heatsink and look for the right model. 4 screws, B etc.

Could it be that I destroyed something else also? Or is the voltage just going TO the heatsink?

I checked the diagr button and it lights up the 5V orange light when pressed. I guess that's ok.

Thanks jasper

ok, seems like I destroyed the heatsink and the CPU board also.
Mac reapair guys checked and the CPU board is working still but sometimes not giving the right temp values or something. Well, time to open the wallet:(
best Jasper
