Is this possible? I see auxo has the option to disable 3G but when I press on it nothing happens my phone either stays on 4G if I have LTE off or just stays on LTE if I have it on.

Edge saves me so much battery, while allowing me to iMessage and use twitter, really helpful!

Thanks!

I COMPLETELY hear your cries for such a toggle. I too keep my phone on Edge for battery purposes, especially when I'm connected to wifi. I get a much longer battery life this way. I use an AT&T 4S on 6.1 and the 4G toggle in NCSettings works perfectly to change between HSPA+/3G and Edge. The interesting part is, on the AT&T 4S iPhones, back when iOS 5.0.1 came out (I think it was that firmware...it was somewhere around this time) AT&T asked Apple to remove the built in stock option in the settings app where a user could manually disable 3G and force Edge. They made this change because they are obviously trying to phase out Edge. But luckily with NCSettings, I am still able to turn Edge on and off freely via the Notification Center.

What phone are you using and what firmware? I am pretty sure this toggle only works on the AT&T models of the 4S.

Exactly, I would do this all the time when I had the 4.

But I have the iPhone 5 6.1. I just tried ncsettings like an hour ago with no luck :(

Edit: you said 4G toggle my ncsettings only had a 3G toggle, do I have to download anything extra?

Sorry to hear that. Maybe a future update will give you this option? What carrier are you on? Maybe only a couple carriers still offer Edge???

att so I should be able to have edge :( mehhhh

Ohhhhh very intersting. I just looked at the changelog but didn't see anything worth noting here. But I looked through the dev's twitter timeline. He tweeted this past weekend that "an LTE toggle doesn't currently exist. He needs to figure out how to do it." But he also says that if you disable LTE in settings you should still be able to toggle between Edge and 3G (in ATT's case, this is actually HSPA+). So based on this information you should disable LTE in settings and then try to use the toggle to enable Edge. If it doesn't work, I'd try several things including but not limited to:

-reboot and respring then try again.
-go into NCSettings settings and use the built in reset button while LTE is disabled then try again.
-switch airplane mode on then off with LTE disabled to reset the radio communications and then try again.

Hey guys I found a tweak that makes my iPhone 5 go into edge from lte!!

Batterydoctorpro!

Is that from Cydia? What version is that and can you confirm that you can toggle between 3g and edge?

Just a heads up to stay away from the latest update (version 3.6.5-224) as one of the "fixes" changes the 4G toggle to LTE on the iPhone 5. While some people might like this change, it removes the ability to toggle between 4G and Edge... something that I found much more useful. People wanting to keep the ability to toggle to Edge should stay with version 3.6.1-224.

I think the latest beta of NcSettings changes the 3G toggle into a 3 way toggle where it switches between LTE, 3G, and Edge. He asked his twitter followers if they prefer he separates the 2. We shall see what the outcome is. In the meantime you could try the latest beta and see if that allows you to toggle Edge. Just a thought.

Where do I get the beta

Where do I get the beta

This is his beta repo... http://cydia.myrepospace.com/JamieD360/

But looming at his recent twitter, it looks like he removed the 3 way toggle. I don't know though for sure. It's worth a shot. I would try it myself except I don't have the iPhone 5. I'm also not sure if this is a public beta or if you need to login. Give it a shot and let us know. Good luck!

Edit: You need to reset the settings after you install the beta. Sorry I forgot to mention that. It's a pain in the ass cause you gotta organize all your toggles again but if this beta version finally allows you to toggle between LTE, 3G, and Edge then it's worth it!

i didn't know the new update will change the 3g toggle to LTE toggle. Does anyone know how to go back to the previous version? how to get the previous version back? i like the 3g toggle more!!

edit: I found the version 3.6.1-224, and ssh into phone reinstalled it, got back the 3g toggle. whew!

I can confirm that the latest official release of ncsettings does allow you to force edge only on the iPhone 5. There is no 3-way toggle, it's either 2G/3G, 2G/LTE, or 3G/LTE. It does work perfectly though. Just remember to respring after making changes (maybe even reboot) otherwise the change won't take effect.
