PB5 clean installed on my rMB, with Yosemite in a dual boot config.

Everything is perfect, office 2016 runs like a charm even side by side with Mail etc in full screen split view.

Couldn't be happier.

No more cough spit *lag* when changing spaces.

This is the OS Yosemite should have been.

Love it.

Also playing with Win10 on my Surface Pro 3 and it is pretty darn fluid as well.

Amazing to see what is coming out of Redmond and Cupertino at present.

Awesome, same results here. I kinda had wished Apple had waited to release the rMB later this year with El Capitan but I'm just glad we have access to the beta now! It really runs amazingly well on El Capitan. Office 2016 runs great as well. It's pretty amazing what happens when software and hardware is optimized. 5 years ago I would have died to have this little beauty in my hands. Just look at the last MacBook Apple released then. It's pretty amazing how fast technology advances!

Running great on mine! Installed it right after first boot and I have had no issues thus far. The latest build seems really stable and I'm sure the Gold Master is right around the corner. I'm running the latest Dev build, not the public beta.

Well I finally installed the beta. Mostly thanks to metal/core animations there are drastic improvements for us macbook owners. Very few window animations stutter. Substantial improvement!

Also, youtube supports the in-safari airplay and the resulting video quality is gorgeous in HD, with NO frame drops. This is because we are only air playing the safari video and not the entire desktop with safari 'full screen'. For reference, I cranked the clemson oklahoma bowl game in hd

Desktop mirroring is still too stuttery to watch video through. Hulu forces you to watch in this manner, unfortunately.

Good show apple.

I noticed the exact same thing. I just bought my rMB (knowing that Skylake is likely coming within the next six months) and was starting to feel a little bit of remorse because of the performance of the Broadwell iGPU (although I'm not sure that even a peak performance boost of 40% for the Skylake iGPU would make a huge difference in the animations). Anyway, I'm very happy with the performance gains I noticed with the El Capitan betas. I can definitely live with that level of performance and have no regrets -- although I do wish that the Application stack's grid animation were still a bit smoother.

Agreed - am on a clean install of PB5 and it's like a new "new Macbook'.

rMB should have been released with El Capitan. It's insanely good now.

Stable as anything - I haven't dual booted back into Yosemite since installing.

Everything works, even Office 2016 in full-screen with side by side view.

OP thanks for the youtube in-safari airplay tip ! Works like the bomb. Colour me impressed.

Yes, the MacBook most definitely should have been released with El Cap. It's a completely new computer in my mind. Can someone explain what in-safari AirPlay is? Thanks!

When you play a video inside safari there is a new AirPlay button down with the usual pause/play ones.

As an OU grad, I object to this video. :) Thanks for the info about El Capitan though. I'm looking forward to the release.

He he. I just included it so you could compare apples to apples as far as what video I airpkayed from MacBook. Having seen the game I can understand your feelings ;)

Took the plunge and installed the latest public beta on my base rMB yesterday and my god it's been running flawlessly. Battery is solid, performance is great, loving the new font and overall system improvements. Much better than Yosemite as of right now.

Same experience : everything is perfect except very minor bug and office 2016, still instable. But the EC really renders the macbook 12 1.2 ghz fast and usable : what a gift !

Well, I was all set to install it this morning, then I started reading the thread in the El Capitan forum about issues with Office 2016 and that is one app that I'd be a bit frustrated to have issues with so I'm thinking I'll wait...

Thankfully I've not had any problems with Office 2016 and El Capitan. I'm only using Word though... have never opened Excel, and I've only used PowerPoint two or three times with El Capitan.

I installed the GM last night to give it another go as restoring to Yosemite last time was so painless. So far so good with this go-around, but I'll have to use it for a few days to develop a real sense as to how finished it is.

So far (mostly) so good after most of a week on El Capitan. The only real issue I've encountered is that when I plugged in to my digital-av adapter yesterday, with all my peripherals still connected, the Macbook crashed and hard rebooted. It would do the same thing repeatedly when logging in until I unplugged it. After I'd logged in I could disconnect/connect it at will.

Otherwise things are looking good. Battery life might be marginally worse than on Yosemite, but it's hard to say for sure. I was hoping that in the move to Metal that web browsing battery life would get better, but scrolling web pages still uses a relatively large amount of power. The UI smoothness is sure appreciated though!

Hmm...

Things have taken a turn for the worse this weekend. I haven't changed anything, haven't installed any new software, and now El Capitan has been crashing regularly. The worst was that at one point after crashing I could not log in at all - it would reboot after entering my password. Took about a dozen cycles to finally let me in. Since then weird things happening - Safari is crashing on pages regularly, many of my System Preferences options were not accessible, Photos database got corrupted and had to be attempted to be repaired numerous times.

This GM is NOT ready for release...

Apple will still release on September 30th, 10.11.1 is already out for Beta, personally I am going to sit it out until the point 2 release at least.

Are you reporting these crashes so Apple knows about them? For me the GM is now very stable, all my kernel panics and major bugs are fixed, with about 8 remaining minor bugs not fixed...
