What time PDT are OS X usually released?
Is it being released today?
HOW FAST IS YOUR CONNECTION?! HOLY ****.You sure it'll be 7GB? The GM was 6.07 GB.
Either way would take me less than 3 mins to download it.

This would be a few hours download time at least for me.
I think the line filter is bad or something.

It all depends on Apple's servers abilities to keep up with demand... you might find out it will take you longer than 3 minutes to download depending on how many people are trying to download El Capitan while you're downloading. Although I'm assuming you have wicked fast internet connection where you're at, you will most likely experience slower than expected download speeds.... just keep that in mind...
From past experience of iOS updates and OS X releases, it depends if I get in line fast enough. If the download initiates before tunnel traffic gets busy, I usually get the usual max speed.
After couple minutes when everyone tries to download, the download speed slows a bit.
I guess my advantage would be a high capacity CDN serving a smaller city, therefore doesn't get affected too much from user loads. Apple does a great job caching at this node too. Drawback would be iOS updates take longer to show up.
since I will be working inside a lab, I won't get to my downloads until well after all of this has started
high speed FiOs internet connection...
Could you use a work computer to remote home to start the download?
Btw I'm always curious, seems like US internet bundle/cable packages all have different names.
Why are they so complicated anyway? Where I'm from, it's VDSL, 100M, 500M or 1000M, loud and clear.
Does FiOs mean a Fiber connection?
I'm behind a secure firewall.... can't access my computer from where I work so I will have to wait it out...I have to tolerate Windows machines where I work at....
Do mobile signals penetrate the walls of the lab?
I love using Windows machine at work, gives me plenty of opportunity to get coffee.
Fabulous, excuse our slowness in the US
I was planning on moving to the US.
But I refuse to live in a house without Google fiber.
