i returned to the shop today with my macbook because of the noise it was making. I was very unpolitely told that it would take at least 2 weeks to receive a new one if they thought it necessary. Just to say again I only bought this macbook on saturday.
Up to now I have never had any problem with apple but from this experience Apple customer support and Apple customer relations absolutely BLOWS

Got mine returned. The tech guy said it was borderline and that it reminded him of the original MBP whining issue, only it's more of a buzz.

Anyway, it seems they all have the buzz, but mine was much louder than my brother's or gf's, so I got the SR MB returned and got a SR MBP instead and am really happy with it other than the fact that disc 2 of the OSX discs packed with the MBP doesn't work.

It's like this:

Apple products are awesome as ever.

Apple quality control these days blows.

Apple needs to switch from China, and move to South Korea, or Tiawan

Sorry to hear that. I purchased mine last Saturday, too.

The funny thing is that my MBP replacement has a lawn mower fan noise from the right fan that's out of whack. At least that is fixable--they can just replace the fan. A sort of inverter buzz or whine or something electric is hard to fix.

ok it bugs me now :(

It seems that over the last few days the buzz has gotten louder...

.. i bought it from Fry's, so i can take it back with no restocking fee or anything

just wondering is there anyone who doesnt have a whine in the 2.2?

i also have 1 dead pixel near the dock,... dont really notice it but anyone else have one, or should i take it back?

Of the three I've used, all had the buzz, and some were louder than others.

Ya i decided mine is fine...

i stopped by my campus store today after class. all of the ones on display were wayyy louder than mine

was afraid to return for my 1dead pixel... i can live with one dead pix, but not a louder buzz

I have "the buzz" too but can't do much about it atm because it's "that time of semester"!!!

Am interested in finding out how other people go before then in getting it fixed :)

Had one with a buzz and returned it....and this one buzzes too. It sounds like the 2.16GHz has a greater change of not having the buzz. Does anyone know if the Apple Store would let you swap out for an older model?

The buzzing really bugs.... maybe it will get better, but from what I have read here it seems to get worse not better

We have two of the new Macbooks in our family and they both have an annoying electric buzz sound emanating from them.
I just received mine, and there isn't any buzzing coming from it that I can notice when I listen closely.
Lol, you haven't seem to have a single problem with yours :D
I haven't with mine either, but I only got it on Wednesday.

I think that is the biggest paradox that I have ever read before. More likely a contradiction.

New November 07, Defected Macbook 2.2 GHz

I'm on my second defected macbook. This is sure a problem that Apple needs to, and better fix fast. If you have this problem you will know you have it. It sounds like the fan is broken but I think its something else. To define the sound it sounds like an electrical buzz, or an electrical condenser, a flouresent bulb, a bee, or the sound my charger makes, anyone that wants to know if you have this problem just put your charger block onto your ear (make sure its not hot) and you'll here a buzz (its normal only on your charger) That buzz noise from your charger is the same sound that you would here on a broken macbook with the fan noise problem. My computer was just replaced and the second i turned my new computer on the fan started raging at high speeds and still does when not needed. I took it to the Apple store and the guy used the computer and said it was fine because it was running normally. The dude wasnt listing and told me to play around with the computer and open apps to get the fan running and then he was going to take it to the back. I knew if I did that I wouldnt get what I wanted (A Replacement Macbook) so I thought what should I do? I then went into Utilities and into activity monitor and started force quitting things that make the computer run. The computer immediately started going nuts he took the computer to the back and replaced it. I was then happy until I opened the replacement and had the same problem, but now I have evidence from everyone commenting about this problem on Macrumors
Take it to the apple store and they will prob. turn you down and think your crazy. You cant even here the noise in the the store with all those people. Your best bet is to call up and speak to a product specialist

I mean Apple's inventors/engineers/designers are brilliant.

Now if the manufacturers can build the product to specs, putting only those products through to the customer that work as intended, and follow up with good customer service, (meaning no dolts on the phone when you call customer service, preferably 1 dolt out of every ten calls rather than how it currently stands, 7 out of 10 calls connect you to a dolt), they will be unstoppable!

Thanks for starting this thread- I noticed it for the first time yesterday and was worrying that mine was going to just degenerate into a buzzing nuisance. I guess it still might, but it's nice to know I'm not the only one hearing it..

Yep I have it too on my macbook SR :(

I thought I had an electric buzz, but then I started playing with SMC fan control. I turned the default speed up from 1800 to 2000 and the noise changed ever so slightly... so i think it's just a low annoying fan noise on my end... anyone else try this little test?

Where can I get this app? Tell me and I will try it.
