I tried to run Timbuktu to check if it's more advanced than VNCthing, but no chance for running it in trial modeI've used os9vnc I think it was called but switched to Timbuktu a few months ago
Using FileSharing with my iBookG4/Leopard it's possible to share it's Dropbox-Account.
Oh - I do like the original old fashioned style of MacOS9 .You could install Kaleidoscope and use an OS X theme for further modernization. I'm still tweaking it on my iBook, but here's how it looks right now:

Speaking of cloud storage services: Box.com can be accessed via WebDAV on Mac OS 9. I use it all the time for file sharing with my rMBP.
Server: https://dav.box.com/dav
Login: Your Box login email address and password.

So this is the future, where 'El Capitan' is able to connect to OS9 via FileSharing
using VMwareFusion with Leopard-Server (Finder/GoTo/ConnectWithServer: afp://.../)

Solution for webDAV: Goliath 1.01 http://www.webdav.org/goliath/#desc
Solution for FTP: Fetch 4.0.3 http://fetchsoftworks.com/fetch/download/
I could get FTP access from OS9 to PPC/Leopard, but yet haven't been able to connect to the VirtualMachine running Leopard-Server. No connection to OSX10.11.
Hooray! Got a 1998 Bondi iMac G3 with matching hockey-puck mouse and keyboard last weekend.
And it's in a great shape - such an eye-candy.
Now everything digital, umm, everything os9 ...
My installation routine:
Classilla, Claris HomePage 3
Office 2001, Photoshop Elements, Print To PDF, Acrobat 5 and Reader, AppleWorks6, FAXstf5
Goliath (webDAV), Transmit/Fetch (FTP), VNCthing
iTunes2 (streaming radio)
Some Games from MacintoshGarden.
Unfortunately connection between iOS and iMac via AFP (using iFiles-App on iOS) didn't work.
So I "simply" used webDAV for file exchange and to get photos from my iPhone6 to the iMac/os9.
It's great to see, that this 20y old machine still may connect to the latest mobile devices...
Using Classilla really feels like beeing on a 56k-Modem-connection in 1996 - but considering, that today's internet is messed-up/blown-up to the max everything is fairly speedy ...
Any suggestions for more useful software?
Yeah, here comes the picture: uploaded to the iMac via webDAV, editing with Photoshop Elements, uploadet to MacRumors with Classilla ...
(work in progress)
I guess I might upgrade RAM and drive too, but switching the board is way beyond my skills - especially 'cause I don't like to fuss around with high-voltage CRT-devices ...Bondis are fun machines. You can boost that Bondi with a Rev D 333mhz card and 512mb of RAM, as well as a 7200rpm hard drive or even an SSD with an mSATA to IDE adapter. I still need to do the later to mine, which is running Tiger (via XPostFacto) and OS 9.2.2.

Do you have any advise about a constantly running fan?
Cheers, Bob
Switching the processor card is easy. There's no need to change the entire motherboard. If you're going to be removing the electronics tray to change the RAM, you'll be accessing the processor card anyway, as the RAM slots are on the card itself. If you decide to do this upgrade, just search eBay for a 333mhz iMac processor/cpu card.
I don't think there are any thermal controls for the fan on the Bondi. It just runs constantly, IIRC.
Ah, maybe I'll give it a try despite of the CRT ... (check the obituaries how it went on ... )
If the fan just runs without control, your comment "IIRC" brings it to the point (I had to lookup the meaning of IIRC: one of it is "Isn't It Really Cool?" That's it ...
Hah!
You won't actually get anywhere near the CRT. It's completely separated and shielded from the electronics tray. Refer to the ifixit repair guide- https://www.ifixit.com/Device/iMac_G3_Model_M4984
Got it! - It's really sophisticated to get hands on the computing-part of the iMac without getting close to the CRT.
Some time ago a friend of mine gave me an old indigo iMac G3 and after the equalizer of an improper VLC-version blew up the speakers I dismantled the whole thing to make it a bar or cat's home (shame on me! the case is still sitting unused at the attic.)
The way I did the dismantling was really blundering (but carefully when it comes to the CRT-hazards) and I ripped off the whole CRT plus logic-board/drive-thing and dumped the whole stuff.
Well, I then thought: "what a mess" and "bad design", but it only had been my stupid access to the iMac!
(A few weeks later I met a chap selling iMac-speakers for nearly nothing.)
Well, I'm looking forward to pimp up the Bondi iMac, but unfortunately the 330MHz-CPU-cards seem to become super-rare (even other iMac G3 seems to become rare now).
Anyway - many thanks for your help and advise!
Keep your eyes open, as they do pop up from time to time. I waited a good month or so until one seller posted multiple 333mhz cards for sale. I bought two, and hosed one trying to overclock it
No, not me ...Don’t mean to revive this thread - in addition to classila, has anyone gotten outlook express or the other ones do work with email ?
Does Classila still work like this in 2022 ? It looks like MacRumors can be used in classila. How did you get it to work ?Thanks folks for all support!
Here's a little picture show, how my KeyLime-MacOS9-project is progressing.
Many thanks also to Macintosh Garden as a keeper of invaluable precious of abandoned software.
The USB-Port of the Clamshell sports enough power to run the "ASUS 3G MOBILE Wireless Router (WL-330N3G)" which hooks up to the ethernet-port for higher encrypted WLAN-access. (Someone here at the forum mentioned that clever way to get MacOS9 connected to WLAN without the need of any drivers and I was lucky, that I had this nice multipurpose ASUS-thing sitting in my drawer)
Using FileSharing with my iBookG4/Leopard it's possible to share it's Dropbox-Account.
Now the MacOS9-Clamshell is really "up-to-date"
