I guess it was bound to happen, but I'm sure everyone will have an opinion on Apple pulling the app that unlocked what was never intended for the US.

makes no sense to me why apple wouldn't allow emoji in the us
I am glad however I got it before it was pulled

Best .99$ I spent yet! Glad I got it before the taken from iTunes Canada to.

Not that this is the reason, but I wonder how much more data is transfered when sending an emoji. I could see Apple and AT&T using an excuse like that for the reason behind pulling the app.

The emoji isn't sent. It's just a little code that your iPhone decodes. Well, that's the way I see it anyway?

Looks like its still there to me. ONLY IT'S FREE! Oh well, still worth the .99.

You guys are talking about "Frostyplace" right?

This is really sad that Apple had to pull this App. Come on, what's the bfd! These are just cartoons; they don't harm or offend anyone. The are not a risk to the network or the stability of he iPhone. I just don't get why Apple had to piss in everyones' Cherrios.

Refund?

I got a question about this whole situation. I bought it and got the emoji unlocked, then deleted the app. Last night I tried to show my girlfriend the app so she could do the same thing and we could both use them but when I clicked on Frosty Place on my phone I got an error message that said the item was not available. I got the emoji for 99 cents which is what I knew I was doing when I bought the app so I can't say that I am pissed but, shouldn't anyone who bought it get a refund since we don't have the option to redownload it like any other paid app we buy?

Good point. We should write to Apple and say that we are very disgusted with this app being pulled. Dammit, we want to read Chinese news articles and if they can't return this ability (through returning said app), then we want a refund.

Go into your account in itunes ... find the app in the list of receipts and click on "Report a Problem" .... tell them its been pulled and you can't download and you should get your money back

Weird

So in the app description it now says "MPORTANT NOTE: Because of the recent iPhone OS 2.2.1 Update, one of the MOST POPULAR feature DO NOT work on the current version (1.1.1) of the Frostyplace app. We have already submitted a newer version (1.1.2) which is compatible with iPhone OS 2.2.1 and it is currently under Apple's review. Please kindly wait for the free update."

Obviously the most popular feature being referred to is the emoji unlock. I know people have updated and kept the emoji but apparently if you update first you can't unlock the emoji until the new version is released, if Apple allows it...which if it was pulled once for presumably the emoji unlock I doubt they would approve the new one.

This post is a great example of why people should read through the thread before replying

And I did indeed read it. What exactly was I supposed to have learned that would have changed this post?

Yeah, this is pretty aggravating.

I bought it yesterday, after upgrading to 2.2.1 because everyone had said that it was still working. Tried to use it, doesn't work.. Developers say the next version is coming soon, then make it free? I paid the .99 for something that doesn't work, that's crazy.

Everyone said that it was STILL working. Meaning that they had it installed, THEN upgraded. Every post I read on the subject said do not upgrade then install. Install FIRST.

My post 2 posts above yours that says they DID NOT pull it.

Doesn't matter if the app is there or not though. The point of my post was that the ability to enable Emoji has been taken away for people who have "upgraded."

Huh? I thought the point of your post was...

This is really sad that Apple had to pull this App.

I didn't see you say anything about the update. Of coarse it matters if the app is there. If its there, then people can enable emoji.
