I don't think they would have.I wonder if Apple would have given them the Exclusive agreement if they had known AT&T would be so slow to keep up with MMS and Tethering.
No problem.Thank You Sir!!
This Info Is Gangstalicious, Factritious And Ultra Delicious!!! :d
Did it work for you before on 3.0/3.0.1?i did this step by step but it never seems to get an ip to connect to in windows
tethering makes my iphone 3gs running way hotter. i'm scared it will break my iphone
i will not use this unless it's emergency.
Nice to know I can tether natively, and use it on bluetooth or usb. Thanks for sharing. I have a different way to tether 3.1.2 on my 3GS using WiFi.
1. Add source (http://iphone.org.hk/apt/) to Cydia
2. Download PdaNet v1.33 - This version dose not expire
3. Create peer-to-peer (ad-hoc) network for WiFi on Laptop or Desktop
4. On iPhone go to Settings ->WiFi -> and connect to the network you made
5. Open PdaNet and your done
I cant find open ssh and open ssl in cydia? how do I install those?
Make sure your filter settings are set to Hacker so you get Graphical + Command Line.
ok I think I got it d/led but when I open up transmit, I cant find the iphone?
passwd
ok thanks for the help, I have sbs settings and ssh is on, but when i try to connect in Transmit it just times out. I can connect through terminal, but I don't know how to how to delete the mywi.app in terminal, thats why I was using transmit.Get SSH toggle either for your springboard or sbsettings so you can make sure it's on. You may have to reboot.
Then, if you have SBSettings, you can look at it to see the IP address of your phone. Otherwise you go to Settings>General>Network and look for your Wifi Connection to check your IP address.
If you want command line access you have to either use Terminal if you're on a mac or use Putty to log into the phone. Once done you should change the password.will change the users password. You'll want to change the password for both mobile and root users.Code:passwd
If you don't know how to follow this tell me exactly what you are trying to do and I'll give you step by steps.
thanks - works like a charm... but in my case, only with USB... for some reason, bluetooth tethering does not work. Everything is on on my iphone (bluetooth, and tethering) and i paired my mac laptop ok with the iphone. I can connect to the iphone (from the bluetooth icon in the taskbar on the mac), which makes the tethering bar show up on the iphone... but I see no data going through, and I cannot open any internet page. When I open my network preferences panel, it shows that I'm not connected :-(
thoughts?
When tethering was available via the carrier file you need to run iTunes.
With the MyWi 'hack' do you need to run iTunes? and if so what version?
Did bluetooth work for you?
I have had no issues with USB tethering either.

Wait, so this hack still requires the benm profile to be installed?
Thanks to a post over at arstechnica's mac forum, I've discovered that I don't receive voicemail notifications while using the benm profile. Once i remove it notifications come through.
So for me it's - tethering works and no voicemail notifications OR no tethering but have voicemail notifications.
Hope pdanet will have a snow leopard desktop client sooner than later.

You should really try what the OP said. You download RockApp, install MyWi, run MyWi, restart phone, look in settings to see the option to tether is there in network settings, SSH into your phone and delete the MyWi app and Rockapp files manually, then restart your phone and the options should still be there. Everything works fine for me, i still get VVM, MMS, SMS, E-mail, Phone calls nothing has stopped working. PdANet is a real PITA imo. With this method, you literally plug in your phone go to settings and turn tethering on and BAM your done.
Wait, so this hack still requires the benm profile to be installed?
It doesn't require it, but it doesn't hurt either. The Benm hack isn't anything to even worry about, and it takes less than a minute to install. I have it just because I had it on 3.0 before I upgraded to 3.1.2 and it remained on the phone.
I just didn't want it to mess up Visual Voicemail.
Thanks for the tip in your first post, I did it and it works perfectly (w/o BenM installed). I rarely use tethering (and it's nice that it's got that counter for how much data you've uploaded and downloaded), so doubt I'd ever get caught. But it's very nice to have in a pinch.
Thanks again!
