After 9 years of successfully getting the new iPhone on launch day whether through a pre-order or camping out over night... It's a sad day.

My efforts started last night at the Apple store, where managers turned us away for IUP's that got all the 7+'s... then at the AT&T flagship store which got every 7+ except the blacks.

My plan is to put the models in my cart and check "in-store" reservations first thing tomorrow morning.

Remember this: "Nothing good lasts forever".

Sad, but true.

I too am in this category. I didn't ever purchase the first iPhone, but I've had every one after that on launch day, whether it was launch day delivery or waiting overnight at an Apple Store with no pre order. It's a sad year. I was going to settle for the black 7 plus instead of the Jet Black because I thought I'd be able to get it on launch day, but I've gone ahead and placed an order with Apple for a Jet Black... what's a few more weeks at this point. I am betting that shipping/delivery dates will be moving up over the next couple weeks though.

True story OP. I feel a bit of that nostalgia already. OP is a loyal Apple Fan putting in the work since beginning of iPhone. For the last 3 years, I've gotten the rare iPhone on launch day morning... the Gold 5s, Gold & Space Gray 6 Pluses, and Rose Gold 6s Pluses (TSMC chip). And now, JB 7+ 128GB Verizon delivering next week.

It's the kid on Christmas effect of getting a new toy on the very first day before anyone else does.

but everyone else will have it later that day? I've always been lucky enough to have it in my hand by 10am that day.

now, i do have a daughter and i'm scared of what things she'll want me to stand in line for.

+ 1 here, original iPhone and every single version since on launch day but not today. Thanks Apple for rewarding your most loyal customers with wait times.

Exact same boat as you with almost identical experience, except that my AT&T store had zero Plus models. Not one.

Going to do the same thing as you, though I will probably also order one for delivery and cancel it if I'm able to get an in-store reservation.

That's truly the concern... After the IUP hiccup... they released all of the walk-in inventory to those people. Apple chose the revenue they get from those payment plans vs. the loyalty they get from people like us.

I hve no problem with people in IUP getting theirs - they pay, jut like the rest of us.

But, basically, Apple is having a "launch" day without actually launching anything. A launch day should not involve only getting one if you get up in the middle of the night to order online.

Samsung paid for their early launch greed to beat iPhone with their battery problems and Apple is paying (to a much lesser extent, of course) by having a lot of pizzzed off customers.

I don't have a problem with it either....just pre-order like most people. I don't get why the line waiters act like line waiting is the only way to get a phone on launch day.

You think it's better to screw over people who signed up for the IUP and prepared in advance, rather than screw over some people who didn't do any kind of preparation other than sleep on a sidewalk? Seems silly.

Same here :(

Figured on the 9th year Apple would have enough experience to get things right. Guess not.

Maybe 11th time's is a charm next year ;)

Same here. Literally the first time since launch I don't have the new one on launch day. I'm really bummed but I can't complain too much because I literally cannot think of a more First World Problem than this.

Don't make me quote the popular "definition of insanity" saying... Why expect things to be different when evidence suggests otherwise?

And again.... WHY NOT PRE ORDER?

I think all of us here pre-ordered, it's just people with the Jet Black 7 Plus need to wait. First world problem, no big deal really but hasn't been the case in the years past if you ordered almost exactly as the site went live.

Why be sad?

I mean, its only a cell phone, and the while it has some minor features, I'd not say its an earth shattering, must have upgrade - at least I don't think so.
