You can—you can go to the file or folder, browse the TM history for it in the finder, and restore it, either to the original location (which would replace the current version of the file or folder) or to a new location on your computer.
Thank you. I thought TM BUs were something you'd use to restore your system in case of corruption or buying a new machine. Didn't realise you could retrieve individual documents from it.
 
OP: When you are "presented" with a Mac, SSD or HD inside, how can you sign into the previous owner's Apple account that is required to perform several of the steps listed?
