Well, the grind was a tad off, so I was just watching out for you. The next one will be better.

This honey-processed coffee has clean fruit notes, juicy mouthfeel, and an ever-so-slight bitter aspect that is like peach skin. Its a fairly complex Costa Rica, with black tea, plum, walnut, and grapefruit essence. The finish is sweet and refreshing. City to Full City. SO Espresso.
Shrink/mobilehaathi:
This definitely looks interesting.....to try something new:
I usually steer away from CR SO, but I'll bet this stuff, semi-washed, will produce a very distinctive (and nice) heavy and acidic shot.
the package comes an 8 pound assortment of "espresso intended" coffees.
I'll have a bit more than 16 pounds (when the order arrives), so it might be a week or two before I run low!
Always fun to see what shows up......let us know.
As always, your restraint in respect of consumption is admirable.
Yup, that's me...moderation in all things.
I cannot think of a single regular denizen, of the sort who dwell here on this thread . . . who is not the voice of reasonable moderation ..
Cool. Thanks for that bit of info. I'll keep that in mind if the need comes to it.
Another vote for the Bialetti; I now have two, and, on mornings when I am in a thoughtful, contemplative, unhurried, philosophical mood, there is nothing better on earth than preparing a pot of espresso and, sitting, waiting, while listening out for that wonderful strangled gurgling sound which tells you that the stove has done its job and that the espresso is now ready to drink....
Very eloquently stated! I never paid attention to how much thinking I am doing while waiting for the whistling sound. But here is something special that has been for a long time in Italy. The manual method of generating the foam.
Those first few drops of espresso that shoot out are put into a cup and whipped by hand with sugar. It takes about 5 minutes. Then you take a teaspoon of that sugar/espresso mix and put it into an empty cup pouring the espresso on top. It both sweetens and lays down a nice layer of brown foam on top. It's an exquisite espresso like in the commercials.
I dont do this because I enjoy it without sugar and it's very tedious but I'll make it every now and then for someone who's never enjoyed it. It's a special treat... Give it a shot if you feel so inclined
Oh, very nice post!
Actually, not so long ago, an Italian friend did exactly that for me when preparing a cup of espresso ..I had neither seen nor heard of this before then, and so, watched, fascinated, while the procedure was carried out and carefully explained to me. My interlocutor actually poured those first few drops, quite carefully into a cup and stirred & whipped the sugar into it; then it was spooned (again, carefully with intense attention to the action in question) into an empty espresso cup whereupon the espresso was poured over it. Actually exquisite. The next time I drag my Bialetti out, I shall try this ..
Ah so you've had the full experience, wonderful! I think what came through in your message is how the attention to detail makes it special. I find that people always enjoy watching it being prepared.
This thread inspired to add lemon zest to my espresso today
So far the thread has inspired you in very inexpensive, and enjoyable, ways.
Stick around long enough and the inspiration will cease to be inexpensive!
That's for sure!

Lol great observation.. The thread has indeed inspired me in those ways!
Or, if you want to go with a cheap one...
Don't you think he should take one for the team and purchase both?

Just as I was wondering whether or not buying two grinders may have been too expensive, the $1500 K8 suddenly offered me 10% off. Both are now affordable!

And that's from a man who KNOWS!
Bwahahahaha!
I don't think I have had the opportunity yet to discuss grinders with you......

Indeed. I have an idea - just the merest notion - that I know what sort of matters, or topics, may be raised next….
Heh, heh, heh………the slippery path is smooth at the start…….and very, very inviting, let me add….
Let not the mere matter of financial lack have any influence whatsoever on the decision to purchase something as incredibly important as a grinder…...
"The Team" have a wonderfully optimistic and cheerfully spendthrift attitude to the acquisition of the good things in life; indeed, for this team, the purchase of an exceptionally good grinder is classed not as 'a good thing in life' but as a fundamental, and utterly imperative purchase.
