"No" meant I didn't see Puma, and had no idea that he had sneaked - even, ever so fleetingly - into the video at one point.
Ahh okay, now I get it. Yes he slipped into the frame ever so briefly when I made that yesterday.

Anyhow, the weather this morning is very beautiful and I'm outside on the balcony, with the new deck boards which were installed this week, having just finished my morning cup. The cats are out here as well and I don't have to worry about them trying to eat paint chip any longer.

Heck, if the resident old guy of the thread, @Shrink can use a smartphone, I think anyone could! :D

Here's my first attempt at slow motion video. Apparently the flickering is due to the LED lights I use. When recording at high speed like this, the flickering of the lights is noticeable.

Sorry, but not a fan of flickering lights, I must admit, and I loathe those overhead fluorescent lights - I never use them, and dislike them intensely (and yes, I see the flicker), and try not to have them on - I far prefer desk lamps- in any office where I work (which is much easier if you have your own office).

Thanks for the warning.

I didn't find the background flickering bothersome...but since I'm being a critic, I found the sound distracting. I think it would have been more pleasing silent.

I enjoyed the video...thanks for posting it.:D

The sound was the Expobar pump, also in slow motion.

Just finished a wonderfully enjoyable second cup of coffee this morning.

I have noticed an interesting phenomenon… when I first broke my one and a half year coffee fast, for the first two or three days the caffeine buzz was profound, sharp, strong, and very enjoyable. Now, although the caffeine does provide noticeable stimulation, it is really nothing like that first buzz. As with all addictive substances, the body develops a certain tolerance for the effect of caffeine.

There are only two options… either discontinue consuming coffee for several weeks (not an acceptable option), or simply accept that the super effect is over.

Alas, oh good things must come to an end.:(

Couldn't you just up your dose?

Ah, yes.

This I do know.

Actually, I have had the same experience if for some strange reason - such as an illness, or deployment to a country which doesn't understand coffee - I have been unable to have coffee for a few weeks. The first cups after recovery (or restoration of coffee to one's life) are sublime.

Subsequent cups are still delicious, but lack that thrill of pure unadulterated pleasure.

As I am always watching for new and wonderful ways to make our favorite brew, I bring to you two fantastic projects allowing you to make fine coffee without all the time wasting falderal. Some here might kick themselves for recent expenditures on fancy shmancy equipment, when these amazingly easy methods are available. (You know who you are!).

So here and here are the latest and greatest...

Please don't gush in appreciation of my continuing efforts for you all...I live to serve.

Well, I am not an especial fan of the more far-fetched forms of creative invention. (And, as for even contemplating funding such flights of fancy, well, suffice to say that I would far prefer to spend what is in my wallet - or bank account - on high altitude, and even higher grade beans from Ethiopia.)

Strange, to be honest. I don't really see the benefit over a press or cone.

To be honest, I've never seen many people do pot roasting of beans before. That came out wrong, but you know what I'm talking about. The most common form of home roasting seems to be done with an air popper made for popcorn. There seems to be some modification involved with the units thermal breaker or whatever it is.
