5:30AM, espresso. Still traumatized by the last TWD episode; tired and definitely not ready to begin a new week.
Oh well, hopefully caffeine will soon jump start my brain.

I'm in about the exact same situation after TWD tragedy last night. Plus watching The Talking Dead kept me up even later and I didn't get to bed until after midnight. That's rough for me when I'm usually in bed between 8:30 and 9:30! I'm very tired right now.

I just had a cup of French Roast espresso and it was simply amazing.

The one difference for me here is that I don't have to go to work today as I'm on vacation time this week.

Hm. I had to google 'TWD', but it does appear to be trending on Twitter.

....
I heard they offered her the 'I' word!

Very foolish indeed.

And - even more foolishly, - an egregious error for which I can blame nobody but myself - thinking about Other Stuff - I wasn't concentrating when and while preparing my first cup of coffee this morning (in advance of that cup, I don't do 'multi-tasking' all that well), and thus, made it too weak.

Ethiopian coffee tends to be lightly roasted and not at all full bodied to start with: Another cup of coffee is clearly required.

It isn't trending right now but last night it was the #1 trend worldwide.

I see.

Well, the article I read - which was clearly datelined last night - mentioned that it was trending.

Now, it seems that another cup of coffee may well be in order.

Some parcels arrived with the post this morning, along with my copy of The Economist; I must open them, as a few of them clearly contain books and CDs.

I decided not to watch The Talking Dead for this reason.
However, this shows how much importance has coffee in my life. I just made an americano - I seldom prepare it - which I kept beside me while driving, using each opportunity to sip it.

Enjoying some Guatemala SHB (Strictly Hard Bean) grown in the Antitlan and Antigua central highland area. Quite a bold well defined flavour with a lingering hint of chocolate and a slight floral nose. Most pleasant. Merits a second cup I think.

My Ethiopian coffee this morning is a blend of two different styles, the "Gersi Kebele" from the Yirgacheffe highlands of Ethiopia, and the "Abera Gedela" from the Gedeb region of Ethiopia.

While I am enjoying the blend immensely - the Gedeb is more robust than are the beans from the Yirgacheffe region, - and adds some heft to my normal brew - personally, I suppose that I still prefer the Yigacheffe coffee.

I haven't had coffee in over a week. Also, The Talking Dead? Is that a play on words of how the show's quality has gone down since the first season? I've never seen the show myself, but from what I've been told by people who watch it such as my employees, they say the show has strayed from its original point and it isn't like anything it was before. Whatever that means.

I don't do well with science fiction, zombies, ghosts or any similar subject matter. It often puts me to sleep or I'll sit there and think it's rubbish. It's no wonder I keep straying towards old shows from the 1970s and 1980s to fulfill my needs.

You haven't had a coffee in a week? And you are telling this to a thread inhabited by - how shall I phrase this kindly? - by those who truly revere the often sublime results with what can be done with coffee beans.

Outside it is drizzling, under a leaden, overcast, sky.

This is the sort of deceptive drizzle that actually soaks anyone foolish enough to risk venturing out into it.

Meanwhile, here, I am sipping a mug (Le Creuset, orange, should you need to know), of Ethiopian coffee - hot Ethiopian coffee - quite a robust coffee by Ethiopian standards - from the Gedeb region. Very pleasant and very, very welcome.

... another day older...

I've had my first cup of coffee today, the always delicious Atomic Roaster's French Roast blend, and I'm about to put the kettle on for my second cup, the always delicious Atomic Roaster's Diesel blend.

I will be sipping this in the always beautiful, down–to–earth, plain guy, not fancy, Bodum 10 ounce cup/mug.

Certainly good enough for a humble, down-to-earth, just plain guy, like me.

Um, @Shrink.

I do recall - extracted from some deep inner recess of my mind - a 'humble, down-to-earth, just plain guy' who managed to master the Windsor knot, (no mean achievement, and one I applaud, the ripped jeans look doesn't really do it, for me), wrote with a Meisterstuck, (yes, the ballpoint, not the fountain pen, but, well, life is more interesting if challenging peaks are aspired to), appreciated The Third Man....among other things.

And, as for 'older', well, I am one of those who never got the hang of, or saw the point of, being 'young'. I just didn't get it, - even the effervescent energy was a nuisance, it had to be burned off somehow, like hydrogen, but less explosively, so, let us try helium (which I actually saw recently - quite extraordinary), instead.

Oh: Do enjoy your Atomic Roaster's French Roast blend.

In every and all ways, getting old, physically, sucks! There is absolutely nothing good about it.

However, there is one thing that does seem to come with age which is very positive… for me, at least, comes the feeling that I am totally and completely unconcerned about other's reactions to my behavior. I do and say things without any particular concern for the reaction of others, as long as nothing I say or do brings any kind of hurt to anyone.

Quite liberating...

I hear that complaint, fairly often - especially from men, - interestingly enough. A lot less often from women, as it happens, unless serious ill health has become an issue.

However, I rather like being middle aged, - it is a time when I realise that I am - or have become - a lot more 'comfortable in' my skin, and really must say that I loathed being young.

And yes, I suppose that one part of it is somewhat less concern about the reactions of others, - very liberating indeed - and more accepting of yourself.

Now, I am debating whether or not I ought to have another cup of coffee.......

I'm having a cup of coffee right now...resolve your internal debate in favor of another cup.;)

Having a piping hot cup of green tea at the moment. Sceptical, to answer your question, I lay off the coffee every so often for a few weeks. I know I've had too much in a period when every cup begins to taste the same or I simply get sick of the stuff. Hard to imagine, I know.

This green is a young sencha perfumed with vanilla bean pods. It lends a delicate aroma to the tea and rounds out the flavor. Not something I'd buy on my own but I had a taste at the store and liked it. Plus, it fills the kitchen with a lovely aroma in the early morning.

As soon as I'm done, I shall go back to bed and sleep for another two, maybe three hours before heading into work.

Piping hot? Greens should be brewed between 160F and 180F!

Hm.

You mean green tea, yes?

'Brewed' or 'steeped'?

Any thoughts on white Earl Grey?

Hm. Perhaps yes, and perhaps, no.

Coffee in the afternoon -especially a bleak, overcast autumnal afternoon, seems to require chocolates, or salted caramel, or - perhaps - a biscuit.

Yet, actually, instead, my stomach seems to desire some form of curry...........
