I've never really taken a liking to Iced Coffee. It's a bit like cold pizza...an acquired taste.
I love both! So I try to put on more on the homemade pizzas so they can't be mastered and eaten all at once, and sometimes I even I get visitors leftovers to eat later 😋

Ice-espresso's are delicious too, but quite different then hot espresso's.
I can drink some coffee if I am at a place when no espresso's are available, but I can imagine it be more watered down with ice, and don't deliver much greatness at all as cold.
Gotta go and make myself some espresso, might make some more and put into the fridge in case the rain stops and the heat comes back.

Pulling a Nespresso shot over a glass full of ice yields a tasty iced espresso. Definitely has a stronger taste and creamier mouthfeel if you don't add any more cold water to it. If I had an espresso machine at home, I'd be making those all the time during the warmer months.

Iced coffee has wide variability in flavor due to the different ways people brew it. If you brew a pot of hot coffee and just throw it in the fridge, it can be very bitter. Cold brew is harder to mess up, but the smoothness can get to the point where the flavor lacks any personality. The method I'm now using with my Chemex tastes like it hits the right balance for me.

my observation has been that some coffees are better than others for cold coffee, and that's quite apart from the difference made by the different brewing methods
 
A XXL espresso with almost all frozen espresso-cubes my freezer had, is giving me great pleasure, this hot and beautiful day.
Immediately filled those containers up to go back into the freezer too, as I hope the heat
stays a bit at least.

A new product for a summer coffee fix I tried a couple of weeks ago from my favourite local coffee spot.

Very clean taste and quite an enjoyable experience, though I still prefer hot coffee most of the time.
 
We talk a lot about the satisfaction of having a great coffee, but let's talk for a moment about the abject disappointment of having a rubbish coffee.

Over the long (Matariki) weekend here in NZ, I was talked into going to Starbucks with the family.
Now, I am not a fan...I'll put it out there right away...but I thought for the sake of the family, I'll acquiesce.

Coffee was too hot, rushed, burnt, poorly made and badly served. It tasted bad - when I could eventually drink it without immediately blistering.
Needless to say, I won't be back.

Is Starbucks bad where you're all from?

Yes. Yes it is. Bad coffee, overpriced and mediocre food.

Yes, it is, and I completely share your thoughts on Starbucks, which is why I never patronise their establishments unless I am with someone who wishes to go there (which is never my preference).

Anyway, in my experience, they tend to serve poor, (and poorly-made), badly served, thin, bitter, burnt, stale, over-priced coffee.

A profoundly unpleasant exerience for someone who likes - nay loves - coffee.

Yes. Yes it is. Bad coffee, overpriced and mediocre food.
Agreed.

And, oh, yes, the food.

Mediocre, at best, and over-priced. And tasteless.

Don't think of Starbucks as serving coffee, but instead a warming frothy milk concoction containing caffeine with (usually) somewhere comfy to sit. You can then go home and have an espresso :)
You make a fair point.

However, given that Starbucks advertises itself - and is thought of - as a coffee chain, - it is deeply depressing that the coffee they sell, the product that is supposed to define what they are about as a business - is so perfectly, and consistently, dreadful.
 
New Zealand has so much excellent local coffee. Such a shame to go to Starbucks instead. They have such a heavy grip on the minds of the general public, though: we have several excellent local cafés in our town, yet people still like up at the Starbucks without giving it another thought.

My first experience with gourmet coffee was sometime back in the mid 80s, when I stepped into one of the earliest branches of Peet's to pick up something for my boss at the time. It was kind of like a fern bar with brass fittings and plants everywhere, and the way they described and sold coffee was like some foreign language, and you could tell that the people who patronized the store took their coffee very, very seriously. I wasn't into coffee at the time, but that was where it began for me. Starbucks ran with the Peet's formula and took over the world.
