This thing is so fast that I seriously doubt that there are going to be a lot of upgrades on the next release. Whatever it says the bump in spec is on paper, it won't make a big difference in day to day computing. This computer doesn't need to be able to cut through video like a warm knife through butter.

I agree with you.. clearly those who haven't tried it don't know what they're talking about. I bought the 11" model alongside the current 27" iMac, and the 11" model runs circles around the 27" iMac in app load time, general snappy-feel, etc.

People say "well it renders video slower" .. who cares? What percentage of your time do you spend on video rendering on a laptop? Get a Mac Pro or an iMac if that's your primary use, as Air is not for you.

I remember when the last 13" MB Pros came out people were bitching they hadn't done away with the DVD burner, now the same crowd is bitching that they can't get by without it.. what the heck?!?! If you don't like the product that's released, don't buy it. I've never liked the Mac Pro's size and look, and don't need it's config, so I don't but it. But you won't find a thread from me trashing it in the Mac Pro forum. People r nuts.

Either way they're not going to replace within 6 months, it's just not in Apple's behavior. If you think otherwise, please point out when they've refreshed with a new processor family prior to a 6 month refresh... it doesn't happen. Not sure why people think if they post on here what they want to happen that it'll actually happen, lol.

October 2005 --> New PowerBook G4's released
January 2006 --> MacBook Pros with Intel Processor's released

October 2008 --> New White MacBooks with Intel T-series chips and X3100 Graphics released.
January 2009 --> New White MacBooks with Intel P-series chips and Nvdia 9400m Graphics/Controller released.

The White MacBooks have in fact had an update in both October and May for the last few years. (Excluding October 2010). That's every 6 months.

I agree. Those who need lights don't have proper typing skills. If you feel the keys J and F, they have a bump to tell you where to place your pointer finger. If you still look at the keys that's your own problem. I get by just fine without lit keys.

Also, on my iMac I've never had lit keys... it's a bluetooth wireless keyboard, which apple has sold millions of. Why are you not complaining about them? nobody ever complains about them not being backlit. Ugh why do people complain for the sake of complaining?

'Cause the bluetooth keyboard has *never* had blacklit keys. But the MBA has *always* had backlit keys. It's a useful feature (for some) that was removed. When people are used to having something, they grow accustomed to it. And even though *you* personally don't like the backlit keyboard, doesn't mean lot of others *do* like it, and miss it.

I agree with you.. clearly those who haven't tried it don't know what they're talking about. I bought the 11" model alongside the current 27" iMac, and the 11" model runs circles around the 27" iMac in app load time, general snappy-feel, etc.

That's the SSD talking. Get an iMac with an SSD if you want to feel *real* snappiness. :D

So far *you* are the only person in this thread who's brought up the DVD-Burner. And now you're saying that others a bitching about it? No-one has mentioned it in this thread except for you.

I think that you need to open your mind, and understand that there are different viewpoints in this world. Some people like blue, some people like green. It's okay! We're all different. That's what makes humanity awesome. And just 'cause people don't share your specific tastes and opinions, doesn't make them "nuts". You're fully welcome to hate the blacklit keyboard till your blue in the face, just as I'm fully welcome to bemoan it's removal till I'm blue in the face.

Seems the Air gets updated once for every times the other MacBooks get upgraded twice.

The only thing I'd be looking for them to put in the 3,2 model is the backlit keyboard again. I miss it, but not enough to stop me from enjoying the new MBA.
