I'm boycotting apple now. I'm buying a macbook , instead on an ipad, on Monday whos laughing now apple?????

This is a classic example of when your emotions get ahead your brains.

You are going to boycott Apple? But you just said you will buy a MacBook, so Apple still gets your money. You will buy a MacBook and not an iPad. They get more money. On Monday, Apple will be laughing as they have your money, more money than you planned to spend, and by Monday you still will not know the object behind a boycott.

If you play golf, take a Mulligan and do this post all over.

Already ordered

The day the delay was announced I ordered my 3G 64GB one in the US - I see no reason of waiting, especially as it will anyway be cheaper as buying it in Europe. My colleagues did the same. So I hope that beginning of May I will have it in my hands!

Are you from the UK? Are you suer it's going to be cheaper despite the import tax?

I'm from Switzerland. The assumption is that Apple will take for Europe the dollar prices but put a € in front... So let's calculate it through. The 3G 64GB model costs including US tax around $900 which is € 666. Including Swiss sales tax we are at € 712. Then lets add around € 40 shipping and we are at € 750 compared to the €820 I might have to pay in Switzerland. Now for the UK you have to make your own number game, but for me it seems to pay of, except Apple would suddenly be nice to us Europeans and charge a decent price, which I doupt

hmm, good points, I am not aware of the precise price of the uk import tax, maybe some uk user can elucidate this point.

It seems that someone gave you some very incorrect information regarding the warranty of the iPad. No matter where you buy it, Apple will fix it for free if it under warranty.

That would be a UK support team leader, and Apple support US rep

Okay, and? I called Apple Finland. They agreed with Apple US. They too point to the Apple warranty program that is mentioned on their website. By your reckoning, if I were to buy an iPad, or MBP, or iPhone in the US, take it to Finland (where I am) and something goes wrong with either of them and they are still under warranty, Apple Finland will not fix them under warranty. This makes no sense as Apple Care is a global service contract.

Apple UK gave you some incorrect info.

LOL...funniest post I've read all day. I think JordanDevine was being slightly sarcastic sapporobaby. :)

As far as the warranty is concerned, this seems pretty cut and dried, regardless of apple store or other info.

Note in particular the section that states:

If the product is portable, meaning that it can operate independently without a power cord, you may obtain warranty service worldwide. However, service will be limited to the options available in the country where service is requested. If the product is not portable, warranty service may be restricted to the country where the product is purchased.

I believe the ipad is portable ;)
