It just reaffirms the thought that Apples software just works.

Control Center on my iPod and my brother's iPhone in iOS11, certainly doesn't just work.

Access it from the lock screen, tap the Timer icon, or the Calculator icon, and where does it take you? To the app which them immediately crashes, and back to the home screen. So many patches and it hasn't been fixed.

Just enabled lock screen access to control center to try this out on my iPhone 7 and launching the timer or the calculator seems to work fine. Could there be something else in play beyond just iOS 11 not "just working"?

Then it must be slightly older models of iPhone. I have the current iPod touch. Probably all the phones with the same chipset, can't remember which it was... A8? A7?

It cuts both ways for whatever platform you are on.

The iPhone X sold 15M so far and it's not even a month yet. There will be like 95% happy owners. But with that said, it can sell 200M and that still leaves billions who never bought it and not mainly because they can't afford it.

There are billions that don't like iOS or any Apple sandbox. Like people who prefer living in the city over a gated community in the suburbs. A Ferrari won't cater to majority of drivers out there even if given for free to them. Best and beauty is all subjective.

I was pretty active on overclock(dot)net a few years back. During this time I was pre/in the process of building my own gaming PC and used the forum for tips and as a general reference. Except for a few, most users seemed to be anti-Apple, especially in regards to the Mac -- being underpowered, overpriced computers.

Since then, lifestyle changes have forced me to view how I use a computer differently. I still care about price and performance -- one reason I bought the iMac over a new MacBook Pro, but I was also looking for something that just worked, without all the setup and hassle you typically find in Windows PCs.

It is really okay to like Android, like the S8 and still find that the iPhone meets the needs of many many people.

I switch to Android for a specific reason and while I miss some things about the iPhone, my S8+ is no slouch. There are app/skins to emulate the look and feel of an iphone if one wants that. If I had to pick a negative, I think there should be much better apps for handshaking between Android and OSX/MacOS.

When the time comes for me to get a new phone, I'll be sure to check in with Apple again and see if they have included a simple obvious option that is missing now and most likely will never be introduced. - One can only hope. As for those that love their iPhones, that is awesome. Everyone hopefully should buy what serves them well and makes them happy be it iPhone or an Android phone.

I miss my Palm Pre to this day...

I can understand. I still have a soft spot for my Blackberry 8700.

That keyboard made text feel like a whole different dimension. Sigh.

But let's not pretend this was some eye opening look at other forums. You went there looking for complaints to bring back because a phone you like is getting slagged off on these forums.

I don't know what the OP's other posts are like, but I certainly didn't interpret anything he said here as being fanboi denialism or an attempt to make himself feel superior on behalf of his device. I thought his comments were fairly typical of someone who mostly frequents one "fan/advocate" sort of forum like MR and becomes frustrated at how toxic the conversations skew only to discover that the grass is just as toxic on the other side. I suppose he could have parsed his words more carefully to preempt any possibility of offending anyone, but come on... we're getting kinda silly here.

I can relate. I used to be rather active on passionate enthusiast forums like that, but I got tired of the constant drama and bickering often over the tiniest of differences. I came to realize that some of the people who were the most active in those kind of environments were people with some serious personality issues (including the ones I agreed with) and I had better things to do with my time than to waste it on feeding their needs for conflict.
