I found a use for the new “Coastal Gray” color in watchOS: it goes well with the two lighter gray stripes in this Apple Woven Nylon band (whose name escapes me at the moment). Apologies for the terrible lighting - I’m inside (surprise) and it’s raining, so natural light is scarce. In real life, the non-dimmed color (left) is a close match for the lightest stripe.

Might as well start speculating...this has to be a leather color right? And sea foam too, while we’re at it. Another khaki and another beryl seems excessive even for Apple.

At the same time, no doubt linen blue is yet another barely distinguishable blue sport band haha

Yeah, I'd be more excited if, say, Forest Green appeared. Or, you know, any of Royal Purple, Mauveine, Electric Purple, Veronica Purple, Phlox, Manganese violet...

Desert Sand/Volt
is this versiın have reflective threads ? I got black version, it is reflective.

This, combined with influence from my activity in the moment. For instance:

casual (dry): sport loop or sport band
casual (wet such as swimming): sport band
renovation: sport band
formal: milanese / leather loop / link

Lastly, I generally sleep with a sport loop for comfort.
is loop band not comfortable for swimming ?

Three main reasons, for me:

-tight fitting sport band so that it maintains heart sensing, unlike the flexible loop

-concerns about color fade due to chlorine (we swim a lot.. at peak, almost every day in the summer)

-instant drying

that makes sense, also I do swim 2-3 times a week (cant for a while due to corona) I should use silicon band for swimming seasons.

apart from that i do cycling, do you think the colour will fade under sun when i cycle several hours ?

I wouldn’t think so — you’d likely need to worry about your skin long before that sort of damage would happen, I’d think :)

Yes, the newer versions detach.
Looks as though the latest Milanese Loops do not detach anymore. I had a 42mm Stainless series 0 with Milanese that would not detach and I loved that band. I picked up a 44mm Series 4 SBSS with Milanese loop, the one with the lug that would slide off, and it was awful. If I even slightly shook my wrist the thing would come loose! The magnet was no where near as strong as the original. I actually contacted Apple and exchanged it as I thought it was defective. Unfortunately the replacement was no better so I sold the band on eBay. A friend of mine picked up a Milanese Loop recently and has had no problems so I decided to try one again.... happy to report that the magnet seems stronger than even my original. Also noticed the lug doesn’t slide off anymore and the band feels thicker over all than the previous models. The box it came in (from Apple Canada) does say “made for series 5” on the back. I remember reading somewhere that the reason they may have gone to the detachable lug was so the band would work with AirPower. I for one am much happier it has reverted as there’s less chance the watch will completely fall off your wrist. Perhaps they were able to make the magnet piece larger or thicker since it doesn’t slide out now.... 🤷🏼‍♂️

Are these new colors confirmed to correspond to the next wave of bands? I keep seeing them referenced as new band colors for Summer 2020 but I don’t personally think Apple would leak colors like that.

They’ve been doing this for awhile now...the little software elves can’t help themselves. This might reveal how late they leave the color decisions or perhaps they just like teasing us or maybe it’s a way to spur adoption of the beta, for those that have to know, lol.

We’ve known about beryl since the fall (I don’t remember any other for sure but I want to say mellow yellow was the same?) and of course the Nike face has been flaunting terra blush, wolf grey, and total orange and even red (that one is so simply named and high up in the licker as to feel just like it’s there for balance in looks). And aurora green was tucked up in there, although I swear I don’t remember it until the band came out, though I’m sure it’s not new.

There’s so many options to go through on the Apple picker and if you don’t have the series 4 it’s quite the workout jogging through all of them...I don’t think coastal gray and linen blue are there just for fun.

Yes, I agree. I think they know very well why they add the colours there. One thing is disappointing to me, the full screen Nike Watch Faces only feature fraction of the Nike Bands Colours. Mostly the new ones.
Thankfully Hermès Watch faces keep their colours.

is Neon Pink new or did I just never notice it before?

As a follow up, I realized one of the new sport loops is Neon Pink, but the colors for WatchOS faces usually correspond with sport BANDS, no?

Yeah that’s a good observation. Did khaki show up in the picker when it was just a loop? I can definitely see room in the lineup for a blindingly pink sport band in a tone that hasn’t been approached since soft pink.

"Blindingly" as in "bright"? In terms of the simple degree of pink-saturation in the sport band line-up, I'd say that it doesn't get any "more" pink than Dragon Fruit.
No blindingly as in lightness...my pre-coffee brain deployed the word saturation there quite wrong! Luminosity is probably the term.

they can definitely come up with a brighter pink than dragonfruit. Dragonfruit has sort of a purple tone to it, even.

I believe it's new (it doesn't look pink, it looks bright red - an actual neon pink would be welcomed). I'm also seeing "Sea Foam", which I don't recall from the before times.

Related, it's be REALLY NICE if Apple would let us mark colors as "Favorites", and then list those at the top of the sequence, as well as in their normal place. So you could set the half-dozen or so that you use frequently to be instantly available, rather than having to scroll through an ever-growing list each time.

I noticed Sea Foam as well but couldn’t remember if it was new, since I don’t usually go for the greens. Interesting!

While I realize that we’re still a ways out from the start of June, I must get 2 thoughts off my chest:

I am hoping that this year’s summer offering is akin to that of 2019. Looking back, 2017 and 2018 both felt like spring ensembles (pastel tones), with only 1 or 2 exceptions such as Nike’s gamma and obsidian & the annual pride option. 2019 brought what I would expect for a “summer” palette - more saturated/bold colors.

I’m also very much hoping that they bring back the original sport loop style (eg. Nectarine, Product Red v1). I’ve had have zero interest in the current format. Hate to be a party pooper, but ever since the split-tone style was introduced, the sport loop category of my collection has grown only on the Nike side. Approximately 50 in total, 13 of which are loops (7 Apple, 6 Nike). At the rate we’re going, I’m definitely not expecting a return. Apple seems to ditch formats over time (eg. classic buckle, nylon with buckle).. but I suppose I can dream, right?

A few Nike bands seem to be getting discontinued.

Royal Pulse / Black
Desert Sand / Black
Pink Blast / Black

A few sport bands too:

Beryl
Pine Green
Clementine
Alaskan Blue

all of these bands are out of stock in both sizes on the Apple website. They also don’t make an appearance in any of the promotional material anymore. Pretty sure this is the end of the line for these colors.
