Hey guys, I've been doing my own research for a bit, but am having trouble. I am trying to find the part numbers for the Black Classic Buckle for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation bands. Does anyone here have that information?
Model* numbers.
From something that @InfiniteJoules put together, the one released in 2015:

MPWR2AM/A - Black - 42mm - 2015 Spring
MJY72ZM/A - Black - 38mm-Small - 2015 Spring
MJY82ZM/A - Black - 38mm-Medium - 2015 Spring

The current one on Apple’s website is MPW92AM/A for the 38mm...MPWR2AM/A for the 42.

Yeah I saw these as well, thank you Pete. I think that the number Ivan has for 42 mm in Spring 2015 is wrong. The number he has listed is the current part number for the 4th gen band. MJ4W2ZM/A is the correct 42mm Spring 2015 Black Classic Buckle part number I believe. I also have MMHD2AM/A, but don't know what generation/release it belongs to.

Does anyone know why the Watch band sport colors are a tad lighter than the iPhone silicone counterparts in the same color?

I can confirm this. There is no „product red“ print on the inside of the 2nd gen.

What's the difference between the two generations? Other than the small print. The 1st generation model is on sale for 29 euros whereas the 2nd generation model goes for 59 euros.

The 2nd generation is a (slightly) darker red.
@Pennypacker83 ...ever so slightly altered...

[I posted a separate thread for this, but wanted to throw it up here too in case you guys didn't follow new threads]

So I have been thinking about back tracking and collecting the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen Apple Watch Classic Buckle Black 42mm bands. I have been researching part numbers and have gotten here:

1st gen: MJ4W2ZM/A
2nd gen: MLHH2ZM/A or MMHD2AM/A (or both?)
3rd gen: ?

I need help figuring out why both of there are seemingly two 2nd gen part numbers for the same band, as well as the 3rd gen part number if anyone has it. Thanks everyone!

Why not both?

Don't even go there. :D

If anyone is looking for a mint, there is one ending on eBay here soon. It is a bit higher than what some may want to pay though at $52

https://www.ebay.com/itm/323293949940

A local Apple retailer has Mint in stock for 29.95 euros ($35). I have never ordered from them before, but I doubt they offer international shipping. I can help someone out if needed, but shipping costs will probably add quite a bit.

Does the 2nd generation product red sportband on the inside of the band no longer have the print: product red?
The photo is from google, youtube film from 2015. I saw a 2nd generation band without the product red mark. Just want to check. Can anyone confirm?
2nd is not marked product.

These pictures really do not do the band any justice, it is much more vivid and yet somehow subtle in person. Tahoe Blue sport loop was okay, felt like wearing a bathrobe. Black sport band is pretty nice, feels great in the hand (giggity). This is just pure love at first sight. Now where's my Miami Vice box set..

Don’t think anyone knows why Apple alters and/or recreates a band and changes its model number. A while back, Fog was introduced. It was then discontinued and later brought back and its model number remained the same. When Midnight Blue was introduced, its model number was MQ3T2AM/A. At some point, while never discontinued, Midnight Blue became MLL02ZM/A. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ That said, I looked up the numbers you had for the Black Classic Buckle and the first appears to have a black backside while the second appears to have a tan leather backside; the third (current) has the new design clasp.

It’s so confusing that I might alter my collecting focus lol and go after something different. I wish there was a way I could ask Apple themselves.
