I'd give this a less than zero chance. I'm not sure how else to say this.

Being Mac exclusive would mean that whatever studio would make the game is deliberately skipping out on 90% of the desktop market. For a AAA game, that's just not financially feasible.

Let's be realistic, if Apple shows off gaming at all, it will likely be a demanding title that's been ported to ASi, sans benchmarks. Or it will be playing iOS games on the Mac at full res or something.

Nah, Nintendo Switch works that way.

Fortnite takes up 5.6GB on my five-year-old iPad mini 4th generation (128GB capacity).

Fortnite on my custom built Windows PC takes up 95.6GB.
Amusingly the most recent PC Fortnite update slashed the game size to 28.8GB. Talk about bloat!

However, the PC version is 5.1x larger than the iPadOS version but the difference is more understandable now.

Personally i see mac gaming benifitting from the IOS app compatability. we will finally have minecraft Bedrock edition wich means crossplay. Then theres all the square enix classic jrpgs like final fantasy dragon quest, chronno trigger, etc, all the old school sonic titles, list goes on that are already on IOS. then for the games that are on intel hopefully aspyr will re port swtor 1/2, Sims 2, jedi outcast/academy, and all the other classic games on the mac app store. For the games that mac cant play since we dont have bootcamp a shadow.tech cloud gaming rig for $11 a month solves the rest. but i do aggree that i hope more games come to the mac and am excited for the future .

Exclusive AAA titles for the Mac? There's not even a snowball's chance of that. However, bringing existing AAA titles to the Mac that have never been on the platform before is a possibility in the near future. Pair a bluetooth game controller to your Mac and it becomes a game console with access to the vast majority of the iOS games library.

I would change it to "exclusive AAA titles for ASi devices", which I could see happening. Apple has the money and the numbers, it just depends on whether they actually want it to happen.

Your definitely right. Since Apple Silicon is the same across mac , iPad, apple tv,iPhone, etc it wouldn't b just mac and with the pool of devices, exclusives could definitely be a thing.

Without Apple buying exclusivity I would be surprised to see any big budget titles choose to only release on Apple platforms.

id agree except there is always the possibility for apple to pay for timed exclusivity especially if the rumored aple tv with a14 in it is true. They already have done that with a few smaller budget games and apple arcade. So i guess it just depends.

Wherever my feet take me…
Siri Remote requirement for developers, and a 200MB static limit for apps.
Are these still requirements? The Siri Remote is very "meh" at best, even on basic arcade games. As for the 200MB limit, I've seen games for Xbox/PS that are over 100Gb (so 500x times as much). I'm not much of a gamer so these don't affect me too much, but even then, I might want to play some games when I babysit my niece. These requirements might not suit her.

Definitely. Either money changes hands or no ASi exclusives. Now I wonder if those rumours about increased budgeting for Arcade to incentivise AAA titles may be a route.

Apple does not buy games. However, Apple users may buy games. Among the considerations then is the size of the audience. One of the misconceptions in this discussion is that it appears to based on the premise that the size of the potential audience for games is proportional to the unit installed base for each platform. This is simply not the case. The vast majority of the Windows installed base is the result of institutional purchases. These machines sit on the desks of worker drones in various public and private institutions, computer labs in educational institutions, and what not. And, of course, there are a lot of private purchases for various recreational and business uses. In the case of Windows, the installed base is overwhelmingly owned by institutions. In the case of Apple products, a larger percentage is the in the hands of private buyers.

The question for any developer is not how large the installed base of Macs is but how many customers in the Mac installed base are interested in gaming.

Fast forward to the beginning of the fall of 2015, tvOS and the ATV4 was launched, but with only an A8 chip, 1080p, Siri Remote requirement for developers, and a 200MB static limit for apps.

Are these still requirements?
No, Apple backpedalled sometime later for both the Siri Remote requirement and the 200MB static size limit for apps, allowing for controller-only games and raising the static size limit to 4GB.

Maybe they realized how silly those two requirements were, or maybe developers voiced their frustration with the requirements, and Apple caved.

But, I think the damage was done though, as can be seen with the current state of gaming on tvOS. All developer momentum prior to the launch of tvOS was killed with those two requirements.

The point of the posts below was to illustrate that while the tvOS App Store did get some bigger games, none of them were really the Xbox 360 quality games that was rumored prior to the ATV4 launch.

Also, Apple's choice of demoing CrossyRoad was demonstrative of their attitude toward gaming, at least at the time of the ATV4 launch.

Rumors saying that the next ATV would be capable of Xbox 360 quality games and Apple pushing the ATV4 as a "console killer".

Couple all of that with the Crossy Road demo to "show off" the gaming capability of the ATV4, and it was pretty clear that the ATV4 wasn't a console killer.

I do believe that Apple is preparing a couple of new products related to gaming, namely a gamepad and a new ATV, but these won't be presented at the next event. All rumours point to a Mac-only event.
So if they have new AAA games to show, I believe they'll be presented sometime later when they introduce these new devices.

I wonder how their game pad will compare to the Dual Sense.

Not sure where got that idea. They are fully committed to that game and it's in constant development.
Beyond Light drops tomorrow. Once that is out, they are going to work on shrinking the game. They have two more expansion packs (at least announced). Not sure why they couldn't work on a version of Marathon for Apple at the same time.

The shrinking happens with Beyond Light. The next two announced expansions are (supposed) to be as large as Beyond Light and Shadowkeep. And they have (as usual) a roadmap with new, additional content for the whole next year until "The Witch Queen" hits.

It's not as if they are finished and out of things to do. D2 is an actively supported live service game. It's constantly being worked on. And Bungie obviously has still plans with the game for the foreseeable future.

Unfortunately they didn't announce much in terms of new games on the ASi macs... however i found this article from some time ago pretty accurate: https://techplanet.today/post/apple-silicon-is-finally-bringing-aaa-gaming-to-the-mac. Games like Call of Duty: Mobile have shown that traditional game studios can make more revenue from mobile games than from traditional PC and Console games, so game developers would be crazy not to exploit this market to the fullest. Together with the recently added controller support for iOS devices, and thus potentially great mac compatibility, I'm convinced the gaming landscape on both iOS and macOS will radically change within the next few years. Let's go!
