One time at school, in my Communication Tech class. Me and my friend got really bored. So we decided to see who could open the most amount of finder windows by using Command-N.

First we were tied neck for neck, but then my friend stopped.

I kept going for about 5 more minutes.

When I squeezed the mighty mouse to activate expose, the computer froze :p

It unfroze a minute or so later, to reveal a flurry of white and grey windows everywhere!

By my estimation there was around 300- 400 finder windows open.

I then had to spend the next 10 minutes pressing Command-W to close all of the windows as restarting the computer would just launch all the windows again on boot :p

Yes, that was my lifeless tale :) Hope you all enjoyed it.

Couldn't you just relaunch Finder?

Apple script for lots of finder windows

Code:
tell application "Finder"
	repeat 499 times
set new_window to make new Finder window
	end repeat
end tell

500 windows:

I'm sure someone with a.) more time b.) a better computer can easily break that number if not doubling it.

Lets see how many windows you can open and display in Expose.
Here's mine on my 2.4GHz C2D, 1GB RAM iMac
Young man, you march right upstairs and go clean up your ro... um... Mac! You've probably got crumbs and roaches living under some of those windows! Yuck!

just open text edit and hold cmd+n and youll be at a thousand before you know it

I think there's no point in doing this if you open the same window 500 times, or even 100 times. Let's see how many unique windows you can open in Exposé.

P.S. "É" or "é" can be typed by pressing option+e, then the vowel you want under the "´".

Learn somethin' new everyday! Thanks!
I learned this by making a blank Sticky note and going through every combination of Option and Shift or no Shift and every alpha-numeric/symbolic key. You may or may not be surprised by all the handy things you find. I have the sticky organized so that each line is every available character available through one key, e.g. (base, Option, Option+Shift)
Q œ Œ
W ∑ „
E é ´
R ® ‰
T † ˇ
Y ¥ Á
Also works for the number row. 1 ! ¡ ⁄ (note ⁄ [special] is not the same as / [regular] see for yourself: ⁄ / )

P.S. Give "K" a try. That's how I made my sig... the secret is in my Location tag.

All of you cheated

On every one of the posts there were repeat windows. Every single one

here is what you get if you try and play fair (NO REPEAT WINDOWS)

(to do what I did first download lots of freeware apps and put them in Applications. Then hit CMD+A then CMD+0)
