Extermal display problem - MacBook Pro to Dell screen

Hi there...
I have an external large Dell screen attached to my MacBook Pro.
Recently the Dell screen shuts off (black screen) every 5 minutes for 2-3 seconds and them comes back again.

What can be the reason for this?

A defective monitor?

If you have another machine to hook it up to, maybe connect it to that and see if the issue continues.
