Really? I'm quite surprised. I thought you needed beefy graphics cards to power these monsters. Excellent though, for the MacBook crew.

To be honest, I haven't looked at ACDs as they are very dear, and I just don't have the money. There was a rumour about a 17" ADC, I believe, but I take that with a pinch o' salt like any Apple rumour. I'm really after a widescreen with at least 1024 (or 1050, whatever it is in widescreen terms) vertical resolution for under £250, and that LG seems to be one of the best. That's all there was behind the decision, really.

for games, it's def. a bit pixelated (your right - it's the graphics card) but for graphic design/photoshop it's excellent.

i got mine used for only $550 - otherwise i would not have even considered it. check out craigslist - maybe you will get lucky.

I'm with you on the base - I quite like this arm. Probably wont have enough left in my feeble budget though .

Do post your experiences using the MacBook with the display - I've heard its a great display from various sources, so do enjoy it.

So I've been using the LG 20"er for about a week now. I must say I am very pleased. I was a bit apprehensive about switching to a LCD from a CRT, as well as selecting a TN panel to boot (although it is 8bit). Well the colors and contrast on this particular model are very acceptable. I am still tweaking and adjusting here and there but I like it quite a bit. I adjusted with SuperCal but I think I'll try my Digital video essentials DVD and see if that works out better.
My only dissapointment has been with DVD playback - it just doesn't look that great. I dont know if it is because I'm so close up or what but movies take on this grainy quality to them. I've found that animated and specialized features like The Incredibles or Ultraviolet look very good but straight film movies are not so sharp. It is not unwatchable by any means, but I'll be sticking to my Panasonic CRT HDTV or the Hitachi Plasma in the living room (man the screen options I have now are great!) to watch movies on.

The ergotron LCD arm is also very nice. Its a bit of a pain to keep in place since its not all adjustable on the fly (you tighten here and there with an allen wrench) but it does the job nicely. Really cleaned my desktop up going from an old dell desktop and a CRT to this current setup.

Samsung 204B works great

I use the 204B on a Macbook Core Duo 2.0 at 1600x1200 with the laptop display as my second monitor.

It works great!

I'm using my new macbook with a 22" Videoseven monitor. 1680 x 1050. Works fine in lid closed mode, a little choppy as a second screen.

I use a Dell 20" 1680x1050 with a clamshell TiBook 16MB VRAM just fine. Dashboard, expose and full screen iTunes or DVD movies play fine. Even when the screens are extended, while not smooth they are usable. Make me wonder about the macbook and mini.

DId you have to install any special drivers or software? If you messed with the settings could you possibly help me set mine up correctly It does not look as good as when i had it on my windows box...could there be a reason for this?

Will a 22" Dell Monitor for "PC" Work Okay on a Mac? Will HDCP work?

I think the 20" Dell would be the best.

Its good value, many people in the Mac community swear by them, and its semi-decent looking.

I just purchased a 22" Dell E228WFP monitor from Staples. The Staples website description labeled it for use with just PC (not PC / MAC).

Dell narrowed compatibility down to 3 of their DELL computer systems (description shown on the DELL install disk that came with the monitor.) I need a PC / Mac monitor.

I haven't got my Mac, yet. My wife has a 20" iMac. I'm leaning toward a laptop. I need a PC / Mac monitor. Staples Tech support said the software programs on the install disk that controlled the monitor, only worked on Windows, and advised me to return the monitor. Is that the sole identifier?

Chris Pirillo said monitors don't have firmware. (I emailed Chris to make sure I wasn't going to mess up my wife's iMac by plugging up the Dell as an external monitor.)
Sure enough, I plugged up the Dell monitor It worked great. Although, side-by-side, the iMac has the Dell monitor beat. But the Dell is not bad. (I tried both the inputs on the Dell, using the Mini-DVI to DVI, and Mini-DVI to Analog adapters -- I couldn't tell which was better.)

Another feature on the Dell is INPUTS: Analog & DVI-D (Digital) with HDCP
Will HDCP work on Mac? Is it just a Windows program?

Thanks for your help.
