My Lr library is 1.2 TB and my ssd enclosure has no fans and it is not a issue at all. I have no doubt a Crucial ssd would be perfectly fine.
Thank you very much. I appreciate it. I'll use these as main drives and continue to back up to my OWC thunder bay 4 enclosure. right now I am working of the files on the Thunderbay and it's slow.

Good morning, Just received my enclosure and Crucial, wh
I do not notice any difference with working off the internal ssd or the external one.
sorry for bothering. Received the SSD and noticed similar speed 2000+ but when writing the drive and testing it drops to 100. Did you enable trim on your Mac? I have a 2019 IMac 5K running Sonoma and trying to figure out how to enable trim on it. Hoping this helps it run better.

Did you check if trim was already enabled?

My Samsung 980 Pro came with trim enabled and it has a steady W: 2800+ MB/s and R:2700+ MB/s.

Are you saying that when you run a test the W is 100 MB/s and the R: 2000 MB/s or are you saying that both R/W are 2000 MB/s and when you are transferring files to your external drive and you test at the same time the test comes out at R/W: 100 MB/s?

Don't know how to check If the Crucial P3 Plus has Trim enabled, been researching for a couple hours and don't know how to check on the Mac. I was transferring my photo library to the external and while transferring I ran a test at it gave me those results 100 MB/s but when it's not transferring/writing it shows 2000 MB/s both read and write, didn't know if that was normal.

Did the transfer take a long time? If not than it probably was the test that just wasn't really good.
It might also depend on what test you ran. I use Blackmagic.

If you go to System Information and choose NVMExpress, choose your drive and if TRIM Support: YES it is on and if it shows NO it is off.

Thank you. Yes the transfer took about 3.5 hours. I’ll keep an eye on it. Just want to make sure I am not missing anything related to settings. I appreciate your help. Thank you very much.

Ok, so if the transfer of 2TB took 3.5 hours you are not getting 2000 MB/s... it would be closer to 100-200 MB/s.

What should I do? That’s what I thought. It was extremely excessive time wise.
What exact enclosure and ssd did you get and what is the speed of the mac it is attached to (internal) and what connection does it have. I would love to see a ss of a test run.

Good morning and thank you for your help. I ended up getting the same one shared here the Acasis TBU405 and I bought the Crucial Crucial - P3 Plus 4TB Internal SSD PCIe Gen 4 x4 NVMe. The speed of the mac attached to is 2000 MB/s but was transferring from another external that only goes up to 600 MB/s (OWC Thunderbay 4) I am moving my photos and catalog from that external into this one to speed up lightroom. I have a 2019 iMac 27" but upgrading this year to Mac studio once the M3s come out. adding a ss of a test run just thought it took a very long time to transfer earlier and wanted to make sure I didn't do anything incorrectly, if there's a better SSD recommended I can still return this one to Best Buy and get the better one or even enclosure.

Ok, so the transfer was from external drive A to your new external drive B? If so than that is why it was slow.

I recently needed to transfer a 100GB file from my external HDD to my External SSD because I needed to work on it. It took a long time to transfer because the hdd's speed is around 130 MB/s...

I'm assuming that the speed test is from the new drive and not the old (OWC). I would not worry about it and simply use Lr with the new drive and see how things go and if you notice problems when using Lr with the new drive that is when you should look for a problem. I think everything is working as it should.
