Even a water bottle falling onto the floor can break open. I'm guessing a hard drive is more fragile than a plastic bottle.

I don't think that this is about breaking. It's about weight to carry.

Ah, I assumed it was about breakage. The LaCie external SSDs only weigh a few ounces. Velcro would probably work.
