I am recovering from a bout of pneumonia. I was not able to view my iPhone X without suffering a headache while sick, although I could look at my wife's 7+ without issue.
Have you thought about getting the XR?So after reading about how PWM was a likely source of my sudden cluster headaches and visual annoyances, I utilized the advice of operating my X with the brightness all the way up during the day to reduce flicker. Fun side effect is that my battery life is awful now but my headaches are gone. Can’t win!

Yeah it seems like a much bigger issue than it just affecting 10 percent of people which I’ve heard before from zollotech, I’m not sure If the flickering would bother me since I have the SE currently but am prone to headaches, also you can’t see the flickering to the naked eye but slow motion vids and some other cameras can pick it up, it’s pretty crazy in general.I’m honestly surprised by the amount of commenters that are affected by PWM on a video with only 45k views that isn’t even explicitly about PWM. I think user sensitivity to iPhone X/XS’ PWM implementation is more prevalent than even Apple is aware.

Cant see it to the naked eyeWow that video is crazy, i never noticed on my max when i had it. I am a believer now.
Gonna copy my reply from the XR thread:This is what we need DC dimming option so no PWM dimming:

Not that I expect anything to come from this, but I have submitted this at apple.com/feedbackAssuming this feature actually solves the issue for us, we should each submit feedback specifically asking for the DC Dimming option.
Funny that the "budget flagship" company OnePlus is solving this, where Samsung and Apple kinda don't seem to care. I do hope both companies take serious notice. It's a game changer. And I hate that phraseGonna copy my reply from the XR thread:
Wow, that's pretty huge. It says that the feature was included in a software update, does that mean there are no specific hardware requirements? Or did the oneplus 7 have the actual screen configured for this ahead of time?
Either way, this shows that there IS a way around PWM for us in the future. Considering how good Apple is with accessibility (Switchcontrol, assistivetouch, display filters, hearing aid, etc), I'd be surprised if this didn't eventually come to iPhones.

WOW, just tried galaxy s10, great device but maan, after 2 minutes i felt headache and nausea and strange feeling in my eyes... never tried X/Xs so cant say if it is the same.. but maaaan, if this is it, I am done, no oled phone ever?
I’d be seriously surprised if they kept the iPhone’s 240hz PWM on the macbooks and iPads. That would honestly be ridiculous. And now there are rumors for oled displays in iPads and more.
Not good news for some of us
