Bought an IPhone 12 Pro Max. Ran into the same problems as some of the people in the forums. Got an IPhone 11 and the symptoms went away. Only problem is that the battery life sucks and the camera is not as great as the iPhone 12 series. May just bite the bullet and get a 12 or 12 pro and hope the problems I had with the screen for iPhone 12 Pro Max are not as prevalent

The latest LG Oled TVs are flicker-free .. let's hope that will change the oled flickering issues
The LG OLED TV line has always been flicker-free. They are fantastic TVs. I have two 65-inch C8 models.

Being realistic, it’s been many years now since Apple has been using PWM in their iPhones. I find it unlikely that they would change unless a new technology altogether was used… and even then they may still use it. It’s a damn shame.

Which models are you referring to?

Unfortunately, their C9 does have a bit of flicker, it dips slightly every 8 milliseconds IIRC. I think the C8 may also have a similar situation, as their flicker charts on rtings.com look very similar. The vast majority of people seem to be fine with it, but it absolutely murders my eyes after watching for a bit :(

Am I the only one clutching to their iPhone 11 wondering out loud if Apple will ever hear our cries and continue to roll out horrible OLED PWM screens year after year????

Nope. I'm hoping that the 13 mini with better battery life will at minimum have a PWM that's better (higher?) than what the X used.

I've said it every year since the X, but my 7 Plus needs to be retired this year. I will happily try all the iphone 13's in hope that one of them works for me. Here's to hope - one last time. 🤞🙏

The xs has a really nice screen but yeah it gives me eye strain so i never use it. I stick with my 11.

I also have a Galaxy S10e and I've never had those problems with it or any other Samsung oled phone I've tried. Clearly they do something different than Apple with their display tech.

Samsung might be the best option for me after I'm done with the iPhone 11.

Have you used any of the newer Samsung phones since the S10e?

Looking at their phone reports on mobiletechreview, Samsung phones appear to have worse PWM than iPhones. It would seem there is as many, if not more, complaints on various forums (reddit, Samsung etc) from people who cannot use Samsung phones due to eye strain/pwm.

I've used the s20 fe for a bit and that one didn't give me any issues either. Haven't tried the s21 lineup.

IPhone oleds seem to be the worst for me for some reason. Well i haven't tried the newer iPhones so idk if those are any better but from what I've read they seem to be causing the same issues.

I use an S10 for developing Android apps with, it has an AMOLED screen, and it doesn't give me a bit of trouble. I don't use Android phones often, but given my job I'm around them often enough and they've never given me any trouble.

The OLED in the 12 mini will give me headaches the following day if I just look at it for a brief moment, like as little as passing by a demo unit at Best Buy or Costco.

I have an S21 Ultra and I've had no issues with PWM. However the Iphone 11 Pro Max, 12, 12 Pro and Pro Max were unusable for me.

Interesting. If the iphone 13 doesn't work out for me I will start working my way through the Samsung phones and the S21 Ultra will be my first stop. I won't be too upset at the switch as I like the new Samsung watch options.

Still hyped for the 13 Pro Max though 🤞

I'll be reeeeeealy interested in your experience with the new iPhone 13 Pro Max since you're sensitive to flicker like I am. I won't be buying one outright - so I'll let you be the guinea pig. I don't want to miss your thoughts on this phone — whether it's an eyeball ripper or not.

It’s weird, the 11 pro max and the 12 pro (regular) don’t seem to bother me much at full brightness. All of the other 12 series bother me no matter what. The X and XS were bad. I’ve never used a regular size 11 pro.
