Right, and everyone who lives with others should worry about someone unlocking their phone while they sleep, because that could never be done with TouchID. And despite never hearing about it being an issue with Touch ID, we should all be scared about Face ID. Mkay.
Who said everyone should be worried about someone unlocking their phone while they're asleep? I'm not one of them, fortunately.

And, my point wasn't that TouchID was infallible. I simply pointed out that users who opt to turn off attention-aware should be aware they're reducing the security level of their device. Nothing else. Why are you so butt-hurt, making sarky comments out of nowhere?

Cheer up my friend, otherwise Santa may not pay you a visit tonight.

I have the RB2132 (New Wayfarer) Polarized. When I got the iPhone X I had a pair that was about two years old and FaceID with attention-aware worked perfectly with them on. A few weeks ago, I got a new pair and FaceID with attention aware on does not work 90% of the time.

I wonder if there’s a coating on the lenses that rubs off over time that prevents IR.

Too add to the mystery, I have a vintage pair of Raybans and a relatively new pair, one regular, one polarized. Neither work. Reset FID, punched in passcode numerous times, but it will not work with attention on. I have to just accept it won't work with them. I don't wear sunglasses often enough to be too inconvenient, but it blows nevertheless. I don't think age of RB's have anything to do with it as there is probably over 30 years difference in my two pairs. FID works on a couple beater sunglasses I have that are polarized. No idea, I give up, living with it.

I have 2 pairs of 2132s, one in black with green lenses (non polarized), and one in blue with blue gradient lenses (also non polarized). Neither work with Face-ID at all.

I went into sunglass hut and tried other 2132's and some worked, and some did not. Most other brands worked flawlessly. I agree that it must have to do with the lens coating, but don't believe its an age of glasses deal. The black ones with green lenses in the store didn't work, however, the black ones with grey lenses in the store did work.

I think that if the glasses are Category 3, Face ID doesn’t work. But it can with Cat 2, like RB3576. Or maybe, it is the coating, that is plastic in the last ones.

So I’ve tried numerous times and Face ID just does not work at all with Ray-Ban sunglasses. Thought I would share this with anyone else who has similar sunglasses. Can anyone else confirm the same?

Update: the suggestion below about turning off attention getting on Face ID worked like a charm. Deactivating that feature allowed it to immediately recognize my face with sunglasses on. Thank you!
This worked for me too! Thanks

i have 2 pairs of Raybans both purchased in the same year, both polarized. One works and the other doesn’t. I think it may have to do with the color of the lenses

I did the suggested and mine still doesn't work with ray-bans on! ‍♀️

Face ID doesn't work with my unpolarised Ray-Bans. It seems that many people here have the polarised version, which seems to have no issues?

I just got a new pair of prescription glasses with transition lenses (they turn dark in sunlight) and Ray Ban frames. FaceID works great.

I find it doesn’t work when I’m wearing my Maui Jim’s, sitting in my Porsche, with my beachfront home in the background. But hey, maybe that’s just me.

I works with my polarized ray bans. Two different pairs. Worked on the X and now on the Max too.

Works with my Maui Jim’s but I don’t have the beachfront home to go with them.
