I use Face ID on my iPhone X and Touch ID on my iPad Pro 12.9. I find they both work fine, I have no problems with either. I believe that Face ID is a bit faster, and I truly believe that it opens security apps (like my bank app) faster. It is also handier to use once you have unlocked the phone, especially when opening an app one handed. With Touch ID you have to shift you hand to a position that increases your chances of dropping the phone, while with Face ID you just hold the phone up to your face.

Face-ID on my X - I think in the 9 months or so I have had it not work twice - at a angle or in bright sun or any other way it works great. I have touch-id on my 2018 iPad and it unlocks on first press maybe 50% of time but probably less -and this is before winter where my experience with older phones when it works even less often. I don't think I'd go back to a phone that only had touch-id.

I have Face ID and I use it but I don’t like it. Much rather have Touch ID. My girlfriend also has and X and see doesn’t use it at all or any security. She hates Face ID that much. Says all the time she wishes the X had Touch ID. We have had them since late November of last year. So definitely not something she is gonna get use to.

FaceID works so well for me that 99% of the time, I forget what it is doing. I just swipe up and it opens. TouchID worked well for me, too, but preferring the faceID now.
Face ID works very well for me too. Only time it doesn’t is when I’m lying down in bed but if I angle my head it works. So really it’s about me being lazy to move my head. Woke up at 4 am and couldn’t sleep so I thought I’d check on one of my bank accounts. I use Face ID to log into the app so had to move my face to the right angle as I didn’t want to type in all the log in details.

I only have access to TouchID but I do use it, one of the most convenient and handy security features that have come out - I see most with the X feel the same about FaceID.
