the title says it? which do you prefer?

I've only had touch ID ipads in the past and getting an 11 pro (when apple manages to deliver it in a month i guess) till then, I was interested in finding out, which is better? Face ID or Touch ID on the new airs?

I've always preferred TouchID, but to be fair, I don't have nearly as much experience with FaceID devices as I've used, but never actually owned one.

I prefer Face ID. I dont have to rest my finger on the sensor in order to unlock the device.

I’m really getting sick of playing “peek-a-boo” with FaceID when youre trying to turn on a device from an angle. But still, I love how seamlessly FaceID works when youre actively using your iPad.

Face ID on iPads is much better than touch ID. Touch ID is nice however, is not practical when using it with a keyboard or have it hooked up to a monitor. One way to deal with this is if Apple incorporate Touch ID into keyboards.

I prefer Touch ID. I use my iPad flat on a desk during work hours and it is such a pain to either have to pick up the iPad or lean over my desk to look at the iPad to unlock or retrieve logins. I already have my hands on the iPad so moving a finger to Touch ID is much less disruptive. I'm curious how people receive Touch ID on the lock button - it sounds like a good move.

Definitely prefer Face ID! Swipe up and opens iPad instantaneous. No need to move finger to Touch ID button. Similar to open website with password, instantaneous with Face ID. That is one of the reasons why I would not even consider an iPad Air over a iPad Pro.

Touch ID would now be nice on iPhone in this age of masks, but on iPad Face ID is much much better, not least because it works in all orientations, unlike the iPhone which I find a pain only working in portrait. Most annoying when phone is on a tripod in landscape.

I have a magic keyboard. FaceID works better as i just hit the space bar and swipe up on the trackpad and I’m in.

TouchID on the iPad for sure. I don't mind FaceID on the iPhone, but on the iPad Pro it was always scanning multiple times and telling me to move my face closer, so I ended up turning it off for most things. TouchID is one of the reasons I want to switch to the Air 4.

It sounds like you’ve not got Face ID set up correctly. I find it 100% reliable on the iPad Pro unless I put my finger in front of the camera

Touch ID on he iPad all the way. I use an iPad frequently for taking handwritten notes at meetings. Touch ID I could simply touch and continue writing as needed. With Face ID I had to tilt or pick up the tablet every time before I restarted.

TouchID works in trickier situations. FaceID is better for standard everyday usage but for me there are a lot of times throughout the day where my face isn't in a position to be scanned but I want to unlock the phone.
