I can honestly say Touch ID. I would constantly block the camera and so yes I swapped my pro for the air. I also like the color... don’t love the size of the screen but it’s not too bad. The constant camera is blocked was a pain. I kind of wish they gave us both options with pro (face and Touch ID). The new keyboard also is going to take some getting used to but other than that, I guess I’m ok. My needs are basic enough that an air satisfies it.

I’m really getting sick of playing “peek-a-boo” with FaceID when youre trying to turn on a device from an angle. But still, I love how seamlessly FaceID works when youre actively using your iPad.
This comment made me laugh more than it should have. I actually imagined you saying "peek-a-boo" to the iPad in the same manner you would to a toddler.

FaceID by a long stretch. It makes authentication totally seamless & invisible to the user, particularly when using the iPad in a Magic Keyboard or on a stand of some sort.

I wonder if they'll move it to the long-edge on the next iPad Pro actually.

I just hate having an uncovered camera pointed at my face, so I definitely prefer TouchID.

Although I'm rarely in a situation where I need a mask and also want to use the iPad (can't even think of a situation like that outside of public transport), I suppose Corona made TouchID more attractive as well.

Face ID. I work with my hands often on weekends - touch ID doesn’t play nice w/ dirt, caulk, chalk, films, etc. that I often have on my hands.

FaceID on both my tablet and my phone. I love not having to hunt for that button every time I need to authenticate. It lets me in without any friction.

I will admit I hated not having TouchID those 2 weeks between giving my Watch away and getting myself a new one though. With watch on my wrist, I find masks not being a problem at all.

TouchID to be honest. Both are not 100 % accurate, but I have more issues making FaceId working than TouchID. Also I find the iPad I have (11 inch) big enough to not feel comfortable holding it for FaceId to kick in. Also it is slower than TouchID. Yes I know that it is maybe 1 or 2 seconds more but it is still slower. With TouchID I know that it works and I don't need to consciously think about it. With FaceId I have to every time think on how I hold the device (distance, position of the camera, angling etc). FaceId is not a smooth experience. It is like way too high maintenance. I want things to work without me having to pamper them constantly.

So with all of the issues behind TouchID I still find it more reliable, faster and overall better experience.

TouchID allows users to authenticate and go straight to the Home Screen. Is there a reason why Apple doesnt allow the same convenience with FaceID by using eye contact and “Attention Awareness” to unlock and skip the swipe screen?

I like FaceID but it seems like TouchID might be faster if you just want to get to work.

For me this isn't even a close call. Face ID all the way on an iPad. To have to touch the power every time I use an iPad to unlock it seems like a big hassle now that I can just swipe up and be on my way.

Having owned a TouchID iPad with the iPad Air 2 and then upgraded to a FaceID iPad with the 2020 11” iPP, I have to say I definitely prefer FaceID, it is a whole lot more convenient. When I am working I have my iPad Pro sitting upright in it’s case next to my laptop, so when I get a notification on the iPad Pro I simply look at it and it unlocks and shows me the notification, the only time I reach to touch it is if I want to interact with it, but then most times I also have the BT keyboard next to me connected to the iPad so I will just open whatever it is through the keyboard and not have to touch my iPad Pro at all. Also I am now used to simply tapping and swiping if I am on the couch lol,no fiddling to find any button, just tap the screen and swipe.

I personally love Face ID more because it’s just so much easier and much more convenient for me. I feel like Touch ID is so outdated nowadays, in my opinion. To me, it works the best for what I need it for, but I understand why some do prefer touch ID over Face ID.

FaceID here. Most of the time it's as if there is no security because it is so seamless.

As has already been said, when a notification comes in I just have to look at the screen to see the whole message. No need to touch the device.
