Why not ? And why so confidently not ?
Just not interested. My touch ID has worked great, so great I bought the 8+. Maybe after a year or so and it is found to work well. We will see how it works on the X.
The X will be a real eye opener for the technology, still not convinced here.
Face ID would be in service to an edge-to-edge screen on an iPad.
I'm not sure how i would feel about a notch on the iPad though. True, the screen is bigger, but it'll still look annoying. Perhaps there won't be a notch if implemented on an iPad (w/edge-to-edge screen).
I would be quite happy to have a notch / etc. if it means an updated edge-to-edge iPad mini though. The iPhone X has an 18.5:9 ratio ignoring the notch. For the iPad mini, the physical dimensions are 8" by 5.3" (to the best of what I could Google). If we reduce the height a little to ~7.95", then we have a new 3:2 screen ratio with a diagonal of ~9.5". That's about 40% more in screen area in the same physical package based on http://www.displaywars.com/9,5-inch-3x2-vs-7,9-inch-4x3. Sounds good to me.
I mean you personally not interested is a different issue, I was thinking maybe you were saying strategically or technically it is not possible that way...I have just found that finger ID has worked so well.
I will only believe that face ID works well AFTER the X is out and we get input from the users. I am sure it IS technically possible but seeing it work out in our environment could be another story. I have great respect for Apple but we all know they did everything they could to get touch ID to work with the OLED screen and failed. It seem like Face ID was their second choice. That indicates to me that Apple wanted to stick with the touch ID.
So what you are saying implies that perhaps for the 10.5" iPad Pro it is not possible ?
I love how to unlock my devices, I have to make sure I put a part of my body on a specific small area to let it authenticate meJust not interested. My touch ID has worked great, so great I bought the 8+. Maybe after a year or so and it is found to work well. We will see how it works on the X.

What do you guys think ? Will the next year, 2018 iPad Pro have a face recognition feature copied from the iPhone X ?
I'm going to say no, just for the simple reason that Apple (actually their component makers) is having significant problems producing the chips needed for facial recognition. If they're struggling to meet the demands of the iPhone X, I doubt Apple will make matters even worse and add it to the next iteration of the iPad.
I'm saying that imo, its doubtful that we'll see in 2018. I have no idea what the likelihood is beyond that however. So what you are saying is, perhaps for next year (2018) it may not be there but eventually it will do come on the iPad ?
lol ! BTW it is a big question and issue for Apple what other magic that they can produce for the next year's iPad Pro ? What more could that bring up their sleeve ?

Decent multi tasking for one. Face is will come for the iPad X for the tenth anniversary.
