anyone with the new iPhone X have any update on whether it recognizes you with a full face motorcycle helmet on?

i bought the iPhone 8 as i did not know whether this would work or not....

thx.

I just tired and it was a no go. The helmet covers way to much. Using a module helmet and it works with the chin bar up.

ok -- i am just back from the Apple store where i tried the iPhone X with my full face Bell Star helmet. no worky. with my helmet. it cannot train to unlock using your face if you have a full face helmet on. btw - the phone is wayyy cool.

you can still enter a 4 or 6 digit ID code to unlock the iPhone. wish i had of known that before i bought my iPhone 8. so you could use this phone on your handlebars with a full face helmet and unlock it with a code. not too hard to do safely.

Been using FaceID since yesterday. Didn't work the first few times I tried to unlock the phone with a full face helmet on but now it's working close to 100% of the time. Visor up - obviously. It's very, very impressive.

Wow, going to try this now myself.

Never thought about this but tbh I rarely get my phone out whilst riding to use

I think it might need to see your nose or top lip. It can see mine through the aperture on my lid.

I wear an Arai Signet Q full-face helmet. FaceID works just fine with the helmet on, even with Oakley sunglasses or prescription eyewear.

Holy hell. Going to have to try this. I don't ever bother having the phone out for a number of reasons, but this may change the game for me. Did you have to train (FaceID fail and enter passcode a few times)?

I know a few people who couldn’t use Touch ID, my mom being one of them. Fingerprints are too worn.

At the end of the day, if it doesn’t work for you you either choose to not use the feature or you use the phone that works better for you.

Not that I recall. I pulled it out and looked at it, fully expecting to enter my passcode and it unlocked. It fails every now and then, but works the vast majority of the time. Most fails seem to come when the phone below the level of the chin bar, which seems logical to me (aside from the fact that I really can't believe it works at all). If the phone can see my eyes, nose, and top lip/mustache it seems to be happy.

My Arai has a similar visor opening and it works just fine for me. I did remove the nose-piece though (long ago, not related to FaceID). In my configuration the phone can see my nose and top lip, depending on where I'm holding the phone.
