SYSTEM SETUP:

Apple iMac "Core 2 Duo" 2.16 20-Inch

Identifiers: Late 2006 - MA589LL - iMac5,1 - A1207 - 2118

4 GB of RAM (667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, PC2-5300)

1 TB (7200 RPM) Serial ATA hard drive

OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8

FaceTime 1.0.5

Clean installation of OS X Snow Leopard fully updated to 10.6.8 and a fresh installation of FaceTime 1.0.5 from the Apple App Store. Nothing else on the system.

PROBLEM: Every time I make a FaceTime call and the other person answers, FaceTime crashes. Every time someone calls me via FaceTime and I try to answer, FaceTime crashes. Below I have cut and pasted what I believe are the relevant parts of the crash report (just the first part and the “Crashed Thread” it indicates is where the problem is occurring).

QUESTION: My understanding is that FaceTime should work on this setup (I believe that’s actually why you can still download FaceTime from the App Store for $0.99). Any suggestions on what the problem is? How I can fix this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a similar setup on an old machine here but I cannot even log in with facetime (1.0.5) onto my account.
All I get is the error message "The server reports an error while processing a request, please try again later".

My understanding is also that it should still work, I also called Apple service today and they confirmed that there is no exclusion of FaceTime 1.0.5 running on Snow Leopard as of today, as long as one uses 10.6.6 and upwards.
The hint from service was to reset NV-RAM, but this does not help here, still the server error is all I get.
