Hi, I'm having trouble getting FaceTime to work in Mavericks.

I finally managed to get iMessage to work and Keychain Access, but for some reason FaceTime just won't work..!

On first attempt, I would get the message in red text above the sign in button of "The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later."

On second attempt, I logged into apple through https://appleid.apple.com/account/manage and clicked "App-Specific Passwords", generated one, and tried this to sign in to FaceTime with this, and no error message - but this time literally nothing happened. The circle span as if logging in, and stopped. No error message - just a stand-still...

I saw in Keychain Access there was "com.apple.facetime: registrationV1", so I was going to enter the password in to this, but it doesn't seem like it can be edited (tried "Show Password" and when I click in the password box I can't edit it)

Has anyone been successful in using FaceTime in Mavericks? I feel like I'm missing something. I tried the same trick as iMessage (putting the 2FA code on the end of the password) and that didn't work either.

interesting. imessage works fine for me, with the exception of group chats. facetime doesnt work. even if i turn facetime on using the menu, i get the same error you are getting. i have tried app specific password, and i also tried app specific password with the 6 digit code at the end, cause why not, and i have found that standard password will give a stand still on the first attempt. along with that, it will send a code to your devices. after that, standard password will give you an error. standard pw + code gives you error, even if code is requested from sysprefs (from the imessage trick). if it contains an app specific password, with or without code, it will give you a stand still, only on the first attempt. after that, anything you put for password will give the error. i have also tried restarting the app after getting a stand still hoping it logged me in, but it didnt.

this is the console logs i get when i try to log in normally:

Yes, FaceTime is broken in Mavericks as far as I can tell.

I actually went ahead and deleted the app (sudo rm -rf /Applications/FaceTime.app) as it's no longer usable.

dang me personally, i dont think deleting the app is worth it...
i just keep it in the hopes that it will get fixed by apple or by another dev one day

I'm not sure this is accurate. Facetime in Mavericks works fine for me, though I only RECEIVE calls, I don't make them (I've not tried so maybe I can, maybe I can't?).

are you able to make outgoing calls?
also, if you receive an incoming call, is it possible to accept it and actually talk with working a/v?
i remember using ios 6 facetime on my ipod touch about a year ago and i wasn't able to accept incoming calls, but i was able to receive them
i was able to connect successfully on outgoing calls, but it would freeze and crash about 5 seconds into the call
